Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYes, everything is watered down now, but ECNL will clearly be stronger as a league in the Northeast and competition-wise across the clubs/teams. Albertson ECNL was near last in nearly all age groups in ECNL. Maybe they will actually do better in GDA, as the competition will actually be easier. So they can have a false sense of how they stack up.
The ones who are playing at a high level all know who else is at that level. It's too bad that LI is so fragmented, as it would be great if the talent actually remained consolidated instead of split across literally 4-6 teams now.
This alphabet soup only serves to make ALL the games of questionable quality. By that I mean you cannot look at league stats, positions, playoffs etc to make any real comment about quality. You have to look at each game and the players involved and judge on an individual basis.
All the My league is better than yours BS is officially redundant.

The most they can offer is to run at break even but it isn't unreasonable that they want a little something for their trouble. Then there's the huge cost of travel not only for events but even league games. If USSF really wanted costs to be lower it they should have subsidized the costs to clubs (they gave some but it was a pittance). That cost could have been manageable had it been much smaller and focused on the true top players in the country. Instead they went for quantity, not quality.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostClubs are supposed to reduce fees as much as possible to make it more affordable. That price is anything but affordable; it's not even reduced! That's one of the big flaws in this league. The clubs are expected to take profit hits to run a league they get little from in return. They can't profit from home growns really, especially in the women's side where there is no big pro path. MLS clubs have to pay to train hundreds of boys in the hopes that they get one homegrown every few years.
