I'm aware the ECNL has to break up it's competition into three tiers due to the range of quality of clubs/teams with 5 age groups, that's quite a few teams.

Now the GDA is going to break into two flights? Well I guess it's better than 3 tiers.

    Bummer.

You'll catch up eventually. The entire GDA is tier-2. Maybe. If they can even get any girls interested in it. ECNL remains tier-1 for many years to come. USYS National League might actually be stronger than GDA.

You might want to believe otherwise because you're so invested in the whole "Timbers are Gods" thing but you'll see soon enough that the top players will opt for anything but GDA.

A such our highest level club teams in Oregon struggle in competitions with other states top teams. Many factors contribute to this situation, why lash out about anonymous posters who hit the nail on the head. Time to change Oregon Girls club soccer and create a structure that allows the best players and coaches to form teams that can represent better what type of talent we truly have in Oregon and SW Washington on a National Stage.

Simply not true - in the last year a Crossfire team finished in the top25; Salmon Creek won regionals; WA Timbers won Xfire challenge; and a number of girls made impact in national pools.

The unrelenting "everything sucks" is neither helpful nor accurate.

Disparage Thorns from being awarded GDA all you want but any parent with a daughter who can play at an elite level will try out for GDA regardless of what people say or troll in here. Thorns GDA will attract these players and if a parent can make it financially work, they will also pay. The best girls in the state understand how diluted the talent is in this area and the prospect of having a GDA being a magnet club will help these girls be part of a team were the training and commitment will help them take their soccer to the next level.

If you don't like it don't tryout. No need to troll on here. The opinions here on talking soccer do not influence any decisions families make. GDA isn't for everyone. Find the best team for your daughter and hope she enjoys the journey.

As as state it's documented over the decades we would have 6-8 boys & girls club teams all in the top 1-32 of the country based on Regional/Nationals.

Now we have 2 teams from Washington carrying the banner for the State of Oregon for on field performance? Great

Internet rankings of the fractured messed of youth soccer are now called finishing in the top 25? Yikes.

Again, you are a dick or a bitter old man if you can't even tip your hat to successes that you had nothing to do with.

This state/region has put out plenty of good soccer players/teams for its population.

The state once put out good boys' teams as well; home that isn't just history.

This discussion involves a bigger perspective than 1 or 2 Washington Girls teams that do well today what the hell is happening that makes Oregon so irelevant at a regional or national stage be it boys or girls?

                It's truly an alarming trend

Truly alarming are the skin tags developing in my fat folds. Probably from soccer. Thoughts?

Don't worry. There won't be very many top players trying out for Thorns, just like the last 3 years. You're division 4 DD should have no trouble making the roster.

The funny thing is that the handful of Oregon girls that the GDA was created for (in Oregon the rest will be filler) don't need to do GDA nor ECNL nor anything else. The truly elite player is so far above the rest that they will be noticed & recruited regardless. Those lucky few can do whatever they like. It's not like they will get significantly different training with the same Oregon coaches and not truly elite teammates.

This. GDA and ECNL and Boys DA were created for the Clint Dempseys and Hope Solos - ultra talented kids who lived in very rural areas and didn't have a local option that could meet their needs. In Oregon, we can't even go to Crossfire and win (for the most part). There are plenty of challenging options available to local clubs, and plenty of showcase events that those local clubs can get into. Aside from that, the next Clint or Hope isn't even living in Oregon.

The only reason to do DA, GDA, or ECNL is to hang an "elite" tag on your kid. But know that you are doing it at the expense of their grades, mental health, social lives, and the quality of their high school experience and your family life. You only get so much time with them..and 99.99% of the current ECNL and DA families (and figure GDA families) are wasting that time chasing a dream that their child isn't remotely able to attain.
