When you are able to track down any type of source for your delusion, please provide the sound byte for any of the handful of 50+ DOC's whose club's players defecting from the ECNL to the GDA in 2017 and post it on this site or even buy a time on TV or Radio to educate little Oregon what the Top club are doing across this nation.

    Thanks in advance.

Until then remember to take your Clozaril.
The truth is that no ECNL clubs are leaving to join the GDA. The question yet to be answered is which league those clubs put their better players in. Don't think for a second those clubs will put their better players in the weaker league so it depends.... We will all find out in 2017.

Until then, it's all hyperbole and I'm sure we will see another 100 threads on the evils of ECNL in Oregon and be entertained by those crying over it.

They aren't any top ECNL players opting for GDA next year. Period.

        GDA starts September 2017.
There will most certainly be some ECNL players moving to the GDA nationally.
Locally, I'm sure the Thorns will get a share of ECNL players. Mostly at the two younger ages.
The U17 ECNL players will be in the prime of their recruiting timeframe so they may be less enthusiastic to experiment. The majority of U18 players will shun the GDA for their last year of club.

If you are correct, the u16 thorns parents should be quaking in their boots. There will be four ECNL teams with players eligible to join the thorns u16/17 team. If each of those teams has four players defect, that's taking 16 of the 20 roster spots on the GDA. Meaning most of the current thorns academy players will either be looking at crawling back to their home clubs, or "settling" for ECNL next year. And before you fire off a post that the current thorns players are "better" than the current ECNL players, consider two things:

If you are coming from an OYSA team you have no clue about the talent level on ECNL.

Second, who do you think will be more prepared to enter GDA and be competitive - girls who will spend the next year playing ECNL, or girls who will spend the next year playing Beaverton and on age in OYSA?

Current thorns parents, here's the dirty little secret. You are placeholders for the players they really want. Beaverton cup was a way to appease parents whose girls will struggle to get playing time this year and will be the first cut when the GDA tryouts happen. They need your money to keep them going until they get the players they really want next year.

Unless...the top ECNL players decide not to go to GDA.

You are correct the Top Players at the Top Clubs are not playing in GDA until the 2017-18 season, thanks for stating the obvious.

              .

#1 Doesn't matter what league you come from your team has never played at the GDA level, that makes it so refreshing and new challenge for the clubs in 17-18, great point.

Simple answer to #2 the clubs who have been selected to be part of the GDA will be the most prepared as they have nearly a year to get ready for the show.

Unlike Thorns Academy, most of the other clubs chosen for GDA are top clubs ECNL or otherwise. They already have a majority of the girls that will play GDA on their top team. Those clubs don't need to prepare - just change to GDA uniforms. Not really the case in Oregon.

That's why Oregon only has 3 teams joining, wise move by US Soccer to cap the number of teams in our Market and consolidate talent so we have a chance of competing with bigger markets like Seattle that have 3 GDA Teams and California and Florida that have nearly 20 GDA teams between the two States.

If the teams are truly the best players our state has to offer on 3 combined aged teams the transition will not be that rough.

It's not like the US SOCCER GDA is asking the Portland Thorns to send 10 teams into the GDA league. That' would be suicide.

Playing in the Beaverton Cup and OYSA league will not prepare anyone, it doesn't matter how good the training is. What is sad is most people reading this will not even understand. It's like asking someone to prepare to climb Mt Everest by hiking Multnomah Falls, not gonna help. I just don't see a mass exodus of ECNL players locally to go to an unproven league, with a team that isn't having success locally in a combined age group. Unless it is significantly cheaper, and that didn't work for the best players with the Thorns Academy. The problem is most local girls want to play college and are not setting their sites on UCLA or Stanford, or the national team, so giving up high school and heading into the unknown isn't going to be an easy sell. It will work for San Diego Surf, PDA, Etc because they have proven success at high levels so there will be a built in trust in the community. There is also a deep enough talent pool. Not here.

You are lashing out at ghosts and it's really just mindless gibberish.

The PORTLAND THORNS will have 3 teams in the 2017-18 GDA sponsored by US Soccer.

They haven't picked any coaches, they don't have a single player restored or selected as of today.

Succinctly, it doesn't exist in any form or iteration to give it praise or rip it to shreds. Once they have coaches and players chosen from their US Soccer scouting efforts and they go play games it's free game to have an opinion about the product and level of play.

Understand, it's coming, the train is on the Track and you can hop on when it stops here or not. Relax in the comfort of knowing US Soccer will move forward regardless of your obsessions with little girls playing soccer at THPRD in mid july of 2016.

What the Thorns Academy has right now is as good as it's going to get. They were at their best in the first year when they simply renamed the WST '97 team. Last year they took a huge step backward in talent and this year they can't even compete on age. Next year they won't be able to attract juniors and seniors that want to play HS ball, and they won't be able to attract any incoming freshman (or youngers) as those girls won't be allowed to play HS ball at all. So they might get a few delusional sophomores that couldn't make one of the ECNL teams, but that's about it.

The drones are hard at work today. As if posting on here will change the fact that ecnl is going away and the GDA will be all that's left. Ecnl, gone like opl.

Which drones? The TA drones posting nonstop gibberish? You fools sure are insecure to be posting non stop anti ECNL posts.

By that logic, the Thorns Academy should be tops now since they only have two teams across all age groups.
