It's all working out as US Soccer had hoped! The game for Kids!
You mean the players not chosen for the ECNL squads will fill out the rosters for the GDA teams.

Let's quit being snarky and appreciate this for what it is. For girls who want to go all in for soccer with no high school and no other sports there is a place for them. For girls who don't there is a place for them. In large markets both entities will attract enough players to field elite teams. Will Oregon? Doubtful. But it's an opportunity for more girls to play at a higher level. Free market is good for everyone. ECNL staying a viable option is the absolute best thing that could happen to GDA, because it means if they screw up people will go to their competitor. So both entities will need to produce an outstanding product because we, the check writers, will vote with our wallets.

Correct the players from the top clubs in the country who join the GDA, will not be chosen for ECNL squad league play as US Soccer mandates they only play in the GDA.

But, those who aren't selected for the GDA level will be allowed to play in the ECNL per the clubs commitment to the ECNL to keep them active and developing in the lower level ECNL in the future.

It's a smart move by the Clubs and the ECNL to take care of the kids not playing in the GDA.

Applaud there effort and concern, it's truly remarkable.

          These guys are ridiculous.

First they proclaim that every USSDA HAD to drop their ECNL affiliation; then a bunch of ECNL clubs publicly proclaim their commitment to ECNL and they are changing their tune.

Neither league will screw up. It's not that tough to write schedules for league play and showcases. It can be a methodical, cumbersome process but it's virtually impossible to screw up as the teams provide all the venues, the local refs, they handle all travel, provide uniforms and even soccerballs, corner flags and nets.

It's not like one is competing against the other, the ECNL will become an excellent feeder to the GDA. Just like all youth leagues in this country who will do the same. The GDA has to get players from all leagues and it's great the ECNL is part of the infrastructure.

Thorns GDA better "hope" that there are enough top Oregon players willing to give up HS sports / practice 4 times per week + games for 10 months / live with the substitution rule / pay the travel costs.

If 10 teams were formed in this market at 2 local clubs and all the players paid 10K each per year to travel and participate in the mountain division of the northwest conference of the ECNL with league foes located in Idaho, Utah and Washington, the Portland Thorns have it easy, they need only form 3 teams and won't have to sell travel to Idaho and Utah.

I believe the local clubs at FC PDX and CU are praying they don't lose all their top talent to the GDA in 2017-18.

No one has ever complained that a club trains too much, most players and families would like more training given the fact they are paying a fee annually comparable to a tuition at a private school, it's called value if you get more training.

Local clubs and ODP level players on the girls side of things have skipped the OSAA state finals for one off showcases the were invited to attend. So, if they are willing to give up what an entire HS team has worked together to achieve just for their selfish personal preferences, giving up an entire season would be a welcome blessing to the HS girls who get left on their own during the OSAA finals.

Parents have been supporting Regional ODP tourneys in Florida for the last decade because the college coaches say, or so they claim YOU MUST ATTEND! College coaches don't watch HS games in Oregon, so why not just make a clean break and quit with the me first ****e and be true to yourself and quit HS altogether, it's not your thing when it's important to your teammates. It's a much more dignified and respectable path to take.

                      True understatement:

Just wait until all of these ECNL trolls see which side their bread is buttered on and move over. ECNL, dead.

It's a total non starter for 90% of the top 60 players at each age level. The GDA will be feeding on scraps.

Non starter my ass. I already know a large % of people hungry to bail on ECNL. DA vs ECNL is a no brainer. DA all the way.

Don't feed the ECNL trolls. Their daughters went to a showcase and a bunch of community college coaches showed up so the feel special. The D1 coaches were on the other fields.

The GDA will not get top talent. It will get rich kids whose parents want status. Not quality players.
