As the region and nation's actual elite girls clubs have decided to join the USGDA.

These Portland market neighborhood club coaches parents and players have been told for nearly a year this was coming and now it has happened.

Players now have to tryout for a professional club in the Timbers/Thorns structure and just cutting a check isn't enough to make a team or league.

Congrats to the PORTLAND THORNS! for making the commitment to be part of the most elite, most watched, best coached girls soccer development program in the Nation and Oregon's History. The community needed leadership and direction now it's here.

      THIS IS SO FRICKING AWESOME!!
Did I just hear you say Elite and Thorns together. I think this will be good down the road, but a team that can't win in Oregon or a watered down FWRL is not elite and will get CLOBBERED!

        US SOCCER did.

Sorry you're having trouble with your hearing.

You alliance clowns are funny - run your girls' programs into the ground for years and some how this vindicates it all, at least today.

            1. Ecnl parents are pissed now. I would be too.

            2. Thorns academy should talk crap because their program has been horrible these past 2 years and its shocking to think how a program that floundered enough that even the alliance clubs wouldnt send players to them but gets a DA placement??

Just excited TOP level girls soccer coaching, development, competition has arrived in the Portland Market..we have been without any type of Elite girls standard for so long, but thanks to US Soccer and the PORTLAND THORNS it's finally a reality.

If recognizing this and remarking about it makes me an 'alliance clown and funny', so be it. It's great for the GIRLS! who have been subjected to insanity for years from all the snake oil salesman and women hyping the OPL, US Club, ECNL, NWCDA US CLUB ID etc...

1, To clarify Crossfire United and FC Portland Girls club parents are in SHOCK!! STUNNED!! DEFEATED!! DEMORALIZED!! But, it's only for the present moment until our daughter can prove she is worthy of making the PORTLAND THORNS USDA GIRLS team for the 2017-18 season and then we will forgot about those fools from our former club who lied their ass-es off to us over and over...Live and learn.

                2. PORTLAND THORNS USDA has never existed in the past and the first incarnation won't come until next year. Then opinions can be formed after they have selected Oregon's Top Girls to play in their 2 squads. Until then you can put all local clubs on blast for their misguided efforts related to Girls youth soccer. It doesn't mean squat.

US Soccer can't declare the USSDA or the Thorns elite. They have to prove it. Which won't happen.

2 squads? You do realize that they have to form 3 teams, right?

No shock from the ECNL side. Laughing our @$$es off actually. Neanderthal Timbers lemmings think they actually accomplished something by buying their way into a new 2nd or 3rd tier league. What a joke.

Well the PORTLAND THORNS have done enough prove they are worthy of selection to the ELITE, PREMIER, TOP level of Girls soccer offered in the United States, no other club from Oregon was even considered.

How they compete at this ELITE standard will be known to all once they start matches.

Last time I check the TIMBERS and THORNS were both MLS & NWSL Champions.

So, they have a track record of winning and developing at the highest levels offered in the country.

To clarify once again the ECNL is a league and they have been gutted and they are crying their asses off actually.

The local neighborhood clubs who ignorantly placed their girls in the lowest level of the ECNL and couldn't compete against that leagues bottom feeders are getting ready for the depature of the top 5 or 6 players to the PORTLAND THORNS USDA team in 2017-18. The parents of daughters with the ability to play at USDA level are overcome with JOY and relieve they don't have to stay in the hell of their current club.

Maybe Crossfire UTD & FC PDX didn't put enough extra postage on their application to buy their way into the USDA.

                          Bummer.

Since you always seem to call these people the same name, post after post, what did they personally do to you, and how could they possibly buy their way into any type of league.

Who are you to set standards for any type of league or club? What is your soccer background? What is your club affiliation?

The traffic over the last 36 hours on here is all about some attempt to rewrite how bad some Alliance programs have messed up their girls' programs.

Well you have your day. Through ups and downs, leagues splits and reunifications, Westside and Eastside have run their girls programs into the ground. If this makes it all worthwhile, enjoy your moment.
