Why do the Thorns Academy lemmings want the ECNL clubs to fail?

I think the biggest difference and it is actually huge is that the DA is not attempting to staff 2 academy level teams at EACH age group. This to me is a severely limiting trait of ECNL here in Oregon.

For those girls who play at the top level (which is really all the DA is concerned with) the DA will be a much better platform with consolidation.

this is not the same as the Thorns current teams but wait and see. Most of the better players are very interested, at least at my DD's age. Our ECNL team is simply bad.

We will see. Still going to face the tradeoffs of travel cost v. exclusivity - the same issue facing ECNL or any other national league. Certain in Seattle, USDA has not gone exclusive (at least if all 3 admitted clubs accept).

Only reason can be is that they need all the ECNL girls to move to Thorns just so Thorns can be competitive. But why do they want their DD's to be bumped back to their home Alliance clubs to make way for all the ECNL girls? Shouldn't they instead be requiring the Thorns Academy coaching staff to quickly develop the current roster into something that can at least lose respectably in the GDA?

Pretty easy to answer. If the ECNL don't fail completely, Thorns Academy will fail. Thorns need the ECNL players to come in and replace all the "B" teamers and delusionals they have now.

Ecnl has enough issues to worry about don't confuse what lur little local clubs are doing at the same level of what US club soccer and the ecnl are faced with the Rapture of their top clubs by US soccer to the GDA.

We really need to get away from this club centric mentality for developing our elite soccer players. We should focus on what model best supports player development. I don't have a suggestion on what that model is but keeping a player in a "club" doesn't seem like the correct path.

Suggestion, leave Oregon and find a program that will will support player development.
