    NWCL Open Thread

Not really a league any more, just a weekend tournament, and one that has lost some luster without the DA teams participating--Northwest Champions League is this weekend.

Westside, ADF, PCU, and Crossfire Oregon are sending teams up to Seattle.

It's not much of a champions league, but then again, it became second tier a few years ago with FWRL took off, but at least it provides some local teams a chance to play some other Pac NW teams.

Believe it's called Champions Cup now. And includes essentially no champions of anything. And leads to nothing. It's finally become worse than FWRL, even though that's hard to imagine.

Your post is so 2013. It's 2017 and the DA is all that matters. Everything else is one to three levels below that.

This is still around? It might be the most unorganized event around

NWCL has always been a farce. Even when people thought it was such a great thing, like back in 2010, it was a joke. Portland teams could rarely compete. And when FWRL took off, NWCL became a complete joke. With the better players in Seattle and Portland moving to the DA, it's equivalent to CU and FCP ECNL teams competing against Idaho and Utah.

Thornz GDA is the program that's about 3 levels below rec.

Sorry your kid's team was never good enough to play in the NWCL. And FWRL never "took off". It's always been a 4th tier rec tourney for Timbers lemmings and losers.

NWCL was an opportunity for the Washington ECNL teams to play their backups in games and still crush the Oregon teams. At least for the Oregon ECNL teams, it provided them with rare opportunities to actually come close to winning a game. Or to secure a draw since the only decent Washington teams were their ECNL backups. The good non ECNL teams in Washington played FWRL. Sadly, the scrub teams from Seattle that were playing NWCL still were too much for the Portland teams.
