At other clubs GDA will be good quality soccer. At OW? Not so much - the rosters are almost all former OW NPL players and a few token ECNL players that weren't getting PT in ECNL GDA will only impact GHS and that's about it and GHS may still be able to beat OW GDA.

The CA school could be an error; there's also a WA school and I think they either play winter or spring. There are no TX, FL or CO (I know for sure FL plays in the winter) schools and those states also dominate top leagues and D1 commitments. In the absence of DA we know that most top players aren't skipping HS soccer.
Besides I wouldn't put too much credence into the rankings, CA or not. It seems to be most of the big HS who had great records and/or won state titles last year. It's all over the country and no "reporter" could ever know enough about local schools and who should be on a nationwide list. He just pulled together a list with no thought to it

Which means the CA school listed in the fall rankings never has to play schools in San Fran, LA, San Jose, San Diego, etc. Their record, as good as it looks, is soft. Kind of like Suffield's record...BOOM!
Put GHS up against Moorpark HS in CA (a public school of about 2000 students) and the SoCal team wins by 5. They put multiple kids at USC, UCLA, CAL, UCSB...on a regular basis. And the area is littered with ECNL options so all the Varsity players are usually on those clubs in the fall.
