I see many "merit" players go in to D1 and D2 programs as players 20-30 on the depth chart and after realizing they are not getting off the practice squad by their sophomore year, they quit.

It makes no sense to me. If you truly love the game, you want to play and not ride pine forever.
Why do it ? Just for bragging rights ?

I go to "X D1 /D2 school" and I am on the soccer team.
    Wow!!
    Do you play?
"No, I just practice with the team"
    Huh ??
What may look like quitting often times is the player being pushed out either overtly or covertly by the coach. Most times it takes an emotional toll on a player to lose their spot, or quietly away because their college soccer career is over. Most will recover but it may be too raw for them while still at school - at least from what I've seen with many athletes in different sports. It's a shi*ty thing to go through but happens to a huge number of college athletes. That's also why it's important to be happy with your school choice. If you're unhappy academically and aren't playing as well, then what?

Once a player reaches the point where playing in college is a realistic goal or opportunity, players can take several different paths and we posters do not do a good job at clarifying which our kids are looking at.

Is a player willing to go out of state? if so, how far?
Is the player a gifted athlete and soccer player?
      Highly recurred?
      Average to above average player?
      Gifted Student?
      Average Student?
What is the players goals after college?

The permutations are many and so are the choices. Thankfully, most of the posts around the educations side of things tend to be respectful with folks attempting to be helpful.
Exactly. Each player is very different with different goals.

It is a reality that many will ride the bench or be practice players or even leave the team. But most have been on the wild ride of club soccer their entire lives and are resilient.

and some aren't happy with little PT and leave. The numbers show most will not make all four year. Bench players will be the first to leave or get cut as a coach is looking for the next good addition. Especially with D1 the time demands are significant and if you're not playing or getting money (likely if you're a bench warmer) then you start debating the tradeoffs. A lot of schools have solid club teams and obviously there are lots of adults leagues out there also. Players can keep playing without the heavy demands of college sports.

So there is a Boys ECNL league that started this fall. Is there a Boys ECNL Showvase to be held in Florida and if so, when? Also, heard Florida NPL league teams could qualify for the showcase too. Is this true?

Last year The girls NPL showcase was held in Palm Coast in December right before New Year's.
Now there is the D1 women's college dead period from Dec 25- Jan 5.
Can someone post when and where the girls U.S. Club Soccer NPL showcase in Florida will be held?

The ECNL Composite showcase will be in Palm Coast dec 1-3. Those teams should play at the ecnl Sanford Showcase and play at night after the ecnl teams are done. Aren't there only 5 ecnl Composite teams in the southeast division?

Looks like fkk composite team is mostly their former 99 black team that won state cup. Maybe they are taking a more relaxed year as most are committed and letting the younger on the ecnl team

Huey needs to pull some strings to get the ecnl Composite teams to play in Winter Springs following the ecnl Sanford Showcase matches.
