Kudos to you for not hiding behind an anonymous post. Good job sticking up for a coach and a club you believe in. One who hasn't benefitted your child. I have heard good things about Shoreline FC and your coach DS. He has done a very good job over the years and has a few quality teams with players they have developed.

I think that this club holds their own. I do think he is struggling, as all small clubs do. I also think that much of the criticism leveled at Shoreline has to do with their branch up in North Branford. Unfortunately their poor quality and lack of leadership reflects poorly on the Shoreline FC name. DS will have to carry that burden. Many parents very upset at broken promises, poor development, and not following through on what was expected.

The Shoreline program in North Branford had a couple of girls teams playing in the high school divisions this Spring. Noth teams were average to weak. Had to do a lot of player sharing to field teams and experience was not great. Many players are leaving and it now looks unlikely that they will have players to field a team for next year. Heard a couple of players already accepted spots to play for FSA.

BJ and Ginger have been working in Guilford and Madison for years. Madison is probably where most of the Shoreline players have come from. Madison Youth Soccer is restructuring their town program and I wonder where that leaves them. The restructuring comes because many in town feel that a better in town option can be provided rather than sending players off to a substandard Premier program. I would suspect BJ's reputation has suffered in the town which wil make it harder to draw players into Shoreline. These are not bad coaches but running a club is not just about having good coaches. Shoreline has really struggled putting quality teams on the field consistently. They are definitely at a crossroads and it's only their third year. Don't think they will recover.

I don't think they have any teams in the North Branford branch at the younger ages. They have a very weak middle school aged team and a couple of average to weak high school teams. Coaching staff is very weak and inexperienced. Their coaches on the boys side are good but stretched too thin. Most of the parents I have spoken too were not happy with the experience in large part because their children were unhappy and the value of the program was not there. They increased their fee and that will probably be their undoing. Most likely outcome is many players will stick to town soccer.

My understanding is that their is tension between the two Shoreline branches. The Greenwich branch uses North Branford to help subsidize their own program. Also some tension within North Branford staff. Girls program is definitely weak. NP was supposed to build the girls program. He was their a year and then left.

NP is a solid coach but he's not an organizational guy.

NP was with Shoreline for a brief spell. He was supposed to lead the charge with developing girls teams. That did not work out. He is now coaching with CT Rush. Shoreline have no dynamic coaches on the girls side in the North Branford branch. I can't imagine they will have any girls teams of note next year.

The girls side in North Branford just imploded. They put together a couple of teams this spring for the high school girls. They delivered a poor product, it was over priced, and most players and parents were not satisfied. As a result everyone is leaving. If you provide crappy service you lose your business.

A balanced view

I see Danny pulled out that old post from one of his loyal followers. Danny was lucky to steal an EXCEPTIONAL team from the town to join his program. They were able to do pretty well by providing them every possible level of support he could. They were constantly in the paper, on the website on the emails, he went out of his way to hype the quality of this team. And while yes, rankings don't mean everything but you have to be in the 500 to even have a decent ability to train. Look at how horrible these rankings are below. No college coach is coming to watch these teams. You have to play with decent players to get better. I made the mistake of believing the sales pitch. My sons team was also excellent. After 3 years, a few of the Shoreline training, three boys did not even make the freshman team at the high school. Meanwhile, the two that decided to go Beachside are now DAP players, one on the national team. Take the word from someone who has seen multiple programs. Shoreline training is HORRIBLE!! Like many Shoreline parents, we sent our next child to a different program - you need that perspective to see how bad Shoreline is. Many of these parents of this U18 have no idea how good their boys could have been.

There was talk of that earlier in the spring, never verified. GPS is all over so it would make sense that they might dip their toes in the CT market
