Rest assured that when the landline rings in Brian Scales' office at Gillette, it wont be Mensa calling. For that matter, any high IQ society.

The Revs have overplayed their hand. Smart players and parents have seen for themselves that the local MLS academy isn't offering much other than a shoe string budget and canceled practice times. Their hard line stance on things like waivers and outside training is gutting them of their best talent. It will continue to happen.

The Bolts are welcoming these mistreated players with open arms.

The talent pool is beginning to shift in the direction of the Bolts at the younger ages as well.

Spoken like a true DA parent, not sure what region you are referring. I would not include all areas of the Bolts in the last statement.

The Revs don't mind. The players have spent one year in their MLS academy system means they belong to them. Late stage development at the Bolts or in the ISL or wherever. If the boys show pro potential, they bypass the MLS draft and go straight to them or their rights are traded for compensation. The full 1 year at the Revs Academy makes them homegrowns even if they go off to the NCAA, has no bearing on things.

Correct, the "shift" to the Bolts will really occur next year when their U17 and U18 teams will be fully funded. The Revs will have to dig deep and compete. Something they haven't done with the local player pool since their inception.

The more interesting shift is that ISL and NEPSAC soccer has overshot both NPL and (B)ECNL to become the B league in boys soccer. If you're one of the regions small handful of players that is given a waiver for Spring Academy, your soccer resume is complete.

It happened last year. Your kid is clearly not in the club.

His kid is at NEFC and is excited about having won some national cup. It's kind of like the World Cup.
