Best Mass Boys Program? Where to go?

NEFC seems to be growing into an excellent Girls program while the boys program is faltering. U10 aside (only two teams listed), I notice that there are no U11 or U12 Blue Division teams. There are four other U11 teams with 1 win among them. The two U12 teams are alright in the lower divisions. They do have two first division U13 teams and one lesser team. The first two have a combined record of zero wins, three losses, and one tie. The latter has two losses. The U14 group is their best, however the great and powerful U14 State Champs have struggled thus far and were just tied by the Stars 1-1. The U15 team (not division 1), U16 (division 1), and U17 (division 1) have four losses, one tie, and no wins among them. For the two U18 teams (both division 1) there is 1 win and 1 loss.

There are very mediocre results for the largest non-MPS club in New England. There is no evidence here that the merger was any benefit for the boys program.

It is not determined which club is the best Boys program. MPS is doing very well in the NEP and in Regional play. The Blazers are showing great strength in both as well (top age group teams combined; 5 wins and 0 losses in MAPLE. Region 1 Premier (U14 3-1-1; U17 2 wins 2 ties), Sub Region 1 (U13 2 wins 1 tie; U16 3 wins)

The Bolts are in a different league, which is very competitive. Their teams are doing well in the NEP (U11 and U12 have strong teams), PreAcademy (top 8 in both 1995 and 1996 teams), and Academy leagues (U16 DAP starting to wake up; U18 DAP in first place).

Where do you want to send you boy to play soccer???

You want to find the best coach regardless of league/division that they play in at the younger ages and ideally you want to keep the travel to no more than 30 minutes to get to practices at least until they are U13. There was a thread started not too long ago that outlines what exactly to look for that gave pretty good advice. Check through the topic titles.

Remember a good amount of those younger girls teams were Scorps teams. If it doesn't work this year, then the merger looks really bad.

For a U9-U12 kid, the best bet might be Valeo, to train with EW. They have training almost every day and its all technical, not about state cup or anything. And it shows - they have the best technical kids. It's also very important to surround a kid with equal players - and Valeo is going to do that because they're all getting the technically focused training. The problem today is that talent is sprinkled thin over so many clubs that they all become too stressed to win and that's become the focus. Several years ago, the Bolts concentrated talent and the games were mostly easy wins and unimportant, so the kids could focus on training. Now it looks like with all these maple clubs winning is too hard - the talent is too spread out - and yet they also make winning too important - the focus is too short term and not on development - stay away from it.

Completely agree with this. Valeo training with EW is the best for younger players and more parents are recognizing this. Footwork curriculum is unrivaled. Younger players are challenged by older players in a fun atmosphere. 3 times a week training and relatively cheap compared to the bigger clubs.

Western U. Some of the strongest teams in the state along with a number of #1 ranked boys and girls teams. U12B, U15B and U12G very strong. Consistently play well in out of state ttourney's which is a key indicator.

You can't beat the Bolts and MPS for training. Their top U12 teams are exceptional with some really stand out talent. No one around does a better job with young players than JO of the Bolts. EW at Valeo runs awesome clinics, but not sure I'd join the club. No Blazers, club culture too toxic. NEFC has some exceptional coaches for the older players. And then there are also the academy programs.

You don't have to join the club to attend EW's clinics. The fact of the matter is that "his pupils" are now playing for Bolts Academy, Bolts Pre-Academy, Revs, MPS, NEFC etc. The fact of the matter is that if you want your kid to develop, go to EW.
