I see no issue with Nationals or even showcases that require travel. The issue is having major events for teams in the age groups where they don't need to travel. Sure, before the change in recruitment when colleges could talk to players as young as 10 maybe long travel could be ok but today, nope. U15 would be when it would be more of a necessity for those looking to play in college. So by the GA and ECNL even having such event is just plain dumb.

Why the heck go to Fla, Cali and Seattle in the span of 2 months if you’re very likely to only play D3??? Makes no sense.

I don't understand all the complaining. If it is too far don't attend. Why not attend the USYS Regional Showcase happening here in Jersey instead? It's available to both boys and girls.

There are over 1000 schools just in NCAA that have women's soccer and another 400 with NAIA and NJCAA. Sure you can go local but not every player will want to stay local. Some might apply to an NAIA or NJCAA in another state in the hopes of getting into the D1 they wanted to.
And so what if a player wants to play D3. They should never be allowed to travel beyond these boarders because of it?

Why would you go to SC, parents having to take off 2-3 days, kids missing at least 2 days of school and both possibly having to quarantine for up to 2 weeks when they get back? Even with out covid, why? At least the old tournaments in Orlando or Tampa you could turn into a mini vacation before or after.
