Scamming the paying families is priority number one. If they only knew the deals that are made where new players (whose families can well afford paying full price) are paying a small fraction or are free while the others are footing their bill full price and get less playing time as a result of the new players. It’s shameful. If you’re a family paying full price I would negotiate every dime. If you don’t the joke is on you.

Bingo, spot on. Seems to be standard procedure especially at some clubs more than others. “scholarships” are offered to whom they think are top players or if the club is desperate for players. As another poster mentioned if you ain’t asking for a discount your loss.

Send out emails which are spot on but take no action themselves to solve the problem of lack of diversity and inclusion both from a coach and player perspective. Someone who has focused on / studied physical fitness / nutrition, etc. - somebody who studied the tactics and philosophy of the game, someone with administrative skills to handle those tasks efficiently, someone with diplomatic experience to manage customers / parents expectations, Someone with experience teaching / training youth (when dealing with youth), Someone who has played the sport...etc.... how do you achieve this? - by interviewing people who apply for these positions and hiring them based on those criteria

D's team had 2 Asians, 2 Latino, 1 Black and 1 Black/Asian on a roster of 16 (all the others were white). Coach was Black too.

That’s to be admired and respected, but not a real reflection of today’s youth soccer girls team. We played 3 teams this weekend at Tuckahoe and not one noticeable minority, not one woman coach. So your team is unique and in a good way.

Agree, as a whole the diversity is lacking in the girls side. Why are clubs not affording more opportunities to minorities? Is it the high cost?

High level competitive girls soccer is not diverse especially in a diverse place like NJ. Part of the issue is economics and part of the reason is that many cultures/communities rather spend the funds needed [whether they have or don’t have] to keep up with highly developed kids on their sons rather than their daughters, sadly. In their limited mindset the payoff is an opportunity to have their sons reach a professional career in sports rather than the possibility of seeing their daughters possibly playing on scholarship for a college or university.

That being said there is a ton of black, brown and Asian girls soccer talent across the country [especially out west] but you don’t see it as much in the top NJ academies and you barely see it on the women’s national team.

You do see a bunch of white males with British accents roaming around academy and school staffs. Guess that’s were the game is only taught at a high level. Not.

if anyone wants to play soccer or coach soccer they CAN.... academies are hiring every day and soccer teams and clubs and academies are holding tryouts yearly and will let anyone walk on throughout the year for a tryout...

if money is an issue, and it is here in usa for "pay to play" sports, someone will step up and fill that gap, as it is always in america ...the top 5% carry the weight for everybody else
