    I agree with this statement

Our drive out of state is shorter than a drive would be to any of the big 3 in state. Maybe this doesn't apply to everyone in CT but its a win win versus settling for the crap being peddled in state.

Let us know exactly what town you live in and what the mileage is. No out of state club is closer unless you live south of Norwalk. Even then you are dealing with south bound commuters during rush hour.

                I’ll wait

                  Here’s a newsflash Chief, it’s all a money grab.

If your kid is good enough you parlay it into a few bucks for college. If not you spend time pontificating here as to what club you deem to be of good value.

Bottom line is that you don’t have a god damn clue. If a coach likes your kid and they play world class, stars, Oakwood or FSA you’ll never know. It’s a subjective business but please by all means drive your kid to the best value

There are no southbound commuters towards NY at the evening rush hour. Trying to go north is a completely different hell. It's not about total miles but where you're going.

The great thing about Youth soccer is that a new crop of suckers are hatched every year.

There are actually a few insightful comments throughout this thread that were likely written by parents who have been through all of this or are on the way out.

The other end of the spectrum is middle school parents who have it all figured out and have mastered the college recruiting process as well. Same people are running their little superstars to their 5th club in 6 years.

                        Good luck

Very true. The constant churn of customers makes it easy for underperforming clubs to stay in business. So does the proliferation of leagues, which makes it easy to hide and tell stories about how great their leagues are.

While I don't relish anyone losing their jobs, if the Covid fallout results in some clubs and leagues closing up shop that's good for youth soccer. The talented coaches will find jobs again.

CFC and World Class are both difficult commutes for southern CT players. NYSC should be the choice, but they're chasing fools gold and who knows what happening there.

NYSC is arguably the worst choice around. They are horrific

Are we talking boys or girls?

Boys - NYSC is 100% a top destination and very highly regarded. MLS league is just a continuation of the top league but with less USSF meddling and NYSC are in on the ground floor as a board member club.

Girls - huge TBD because no one knows how this GA league will pan out and the girls side of the club lacks direction and coaching. Most of the program has been built by acquisitions going back to White Plains and FC Westchester merger about 4 years ago.
