    About 10 years too late..

    note in SRI by-laws there is no conflict of interest other than with issues before the disciplinary board..

    10 years ago - term limits, no town rule, minimum non-premier association size for provisional and then must achieve to get full (at least 200-250 for provisional and 400-500 for full) membership;

    U8 and u10 - should be no fixed rosters -- if you're not keeping score or not keeping standings, who cares as long as the kids are properly registered and age? League matches should just be Academy Program A vs Academy Program B and let the coaches sort out based on number in pool how many "matches" they can do or those old festival type events..

      At U8 club-pass and double roster does give programs the freedom to run their program this way. The logistics involved and the level of cooperation required amongst coaches make it hard though. Not to mention meddling parents. I think academy is a great idea at those ages, just have to fight the rec mentality that more games versus training is better. In our town we get parents that want to play up to U9/U10 to play "real soccer". I thought 5v5 was a great format for U8 and helped keep parents patient. The struggle is real.

        Right, which is why the mandate had to come from SRI. This is what drives people out. The 2d grader who by their size or athletic ability (not soccer skill) can score a zillion goals somehow makes the parents believe the kid will be the next HS player of the year.

        If all u8-u10 was simply pool play Academy, you could move those kids around - you get ride of the nasty "tryout" politics.

        Again, what USYS says and what the reality that gets translated down to the states is often night and day.

          Academy is a fine idea but the biggest problem is the parents. They are hungry for games and "real" soccer. If towns did academies they would be nothing but feeders for the B level premier clubs who come in and offer your U8 player to play U9 as if that is of course better. NEP caused it by having so many lower divisions that level of play was worse than towns.

            Exactly - which is why it had to come from the state associations to not sanctioned such leagues..

              Are the lower level NEP players actually leaving town travel soccer? All the ones I know play both, which gives them the training to improve. I have only seen the top level players drop town for club as the schedules at the high levels tend to get quite busy.
