    Nice Spin by US Soccer

I would hate to be paet of US Soccer now trying to make any games over the next year and a half meaningful. Trying to make it look as if they have any choice. The next half dozen or more friendlies will be filled with minir league players playing against minir league opponents doing the same:

FC Dallas does not allow its players to participate and Jonathan Gonzales switching from USYNT to Mexico (I wonder if other promising players will follow suit rather than waste the next 4 years)?

This is a bad patch for the USMNT, but it will undoubtably clear out the older generation that needs to move on. There is a ton of young talent (18-23) on European clubs that will primed for the next cycle.

Gonzalez is a bad miss though. He could have been a 10 year starter for the team.

While unfortunate and unaccetable, missing the world cup does not effect the next four years. It only effects the next six/seven months. After that everybody is back in the same boat trying to win the next major tournaments.

You did see the other teams not at the world cup? Holland, Italy... We should be able to find some good friendlies to play. All these teams will look at the next generation now so that should make these games interesting as well.

I predict about 5-10 miles of wall situated well for photo ops and then the it will be good riddance to the stupid wall idea.

The Secure Fence Act of 2006

The Secure Fence Act of 2006, which was passed by a Republican Congress and signed by President George W. Bush, authorized about 700 miles of fencing along certain stretches of land between the border of the United States and Mexico.

The act also authorized the use of more vehicle barriers, checkpoints and lighting to curb illegal immigration, and the use of advanced technology such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles.

At the time the act was being considered, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer were all members of the Senate. (Schumer of New York is now the Senate minority leader.)

Obama, Clinton, Schumer and 23 other Democratic senators voted in favor of the act when it passed in the Senate by a vote of 80 to 19.

Yesterday, the President "discovered" there were rivers and mountains and uncrossable deserts along the border, so a full 2,000 mile wall may not be needed.

Yes. Border barrier will be fencing. The wall bit will be small and for show for folks that like that weird reality tv ish reality instead of planet earth reality.

He'll get 200 miles of fence where it needs some improvements and declare the wall built.
