    The clubs care about:

    1. The club
    2. The needs of their teams (one more player, a goalie, etc.)
    3. Any individual player

Parents should care about what’s best for their kid and that’s it.

The club cares about the club. Parents care about their kids. That is it. That is all. Each party is trying to use the other for their own benefit. Loyalty is a non factor.

The indignation and anger over parents making decisions about 10 year olds playing soccer is unreal. Do you honestly believe that the owner of SOL or the Stars or GPS gives a damn about anything but your money. Would they stay loyal to you? If they wanted you gone, you'd be gone regardless of everything! This is a purely symbiotic relationship. Once you are no longer useful, guess what! And you think my views are the problem with youth soccer. Nope. I've just learned to recognize and play the game. You may be passing on "morality" to your children but also naivete.
If it is just about money, then transfer fees should be paid from club to club.
Or, maybe every club should charge exactly the same fee. This would level the playing field.
A club invests time, energy and money to train a team, so some indignation is appropriate if a successful team leaves the club for a lateral position; off you go if it is indeed a promotion, although that may not be warranted by actual results.
Bragging rights to a top flight postion are important marketing tools for a club.
As for a coach leaving, see you later, but he is not entitled to take his squad. No company in the world allows an employee to leave with the company rolodex. At the very least, put a 6 month moratorium on their ability to take their squad.

To take this a step further.
What difference to a team should it make about what club they play for? There is no loyalty to club, nor should their be. A spot in a league is a spot in a league. If you play in the Champions League, what club makes no difference; same for npl etc... in our world.
A coach relationship I completely understand, but no team who wants to stay together on their own decides to hop club without input from the coach or a parent with an ulterior motive is involved.
          Club=club=club
          You spoke of naivete...

Of course there is an ulterior motive. My point is, why do you care? Is your kid on this team and the coach didn't ask her to come along too? BG of SOL would sell anyone of his team's for the right price. He's not in it for the love of the game. So who cares?

Are you a confidant of BG to speak so knowingly?

Did he sell the spot to Best fc 03?

So you know all the club owners? IF BG would sell any team why is he one of the only club owners not to sell to a bigger club.

There are rules around taking squads but the league looks the other way which is part of the problem. If a coach wants to leave a club that should be fine but many times it leads to a lot of teams leaving and that is not right. Look at all the clubs that within a couple years are gone or underneath another club.

It would be nice if the clubs/league worked together and things were done above board. DA club calls smaller clubs and discusses players that may fit. Smaller club has them try it out and if it is a fit they shake hands and wish them good luck. If they are not a good fit they continue with their current club. This should also go the other way if someone is not working out and playing they can play with a smaller club to get more game experience while still training with the DA.

If this is how coaches really think, club soccer truly is a cesspool. These are young kids, not indentured servants to a fuedal club system. You seem to forget that the clubs are paid by the parents & the parents have an obligation to find the best coach and situation for their kid. If that means changing clubs, so be it.

Lord knows, the club will move on from the player in a heartbeat if they have a better option.

It is always the “best options” that leave.

FCUSA added a few good players so should still be a top 5 team

FC Boston lost a player as well and scores show they struggled at GPS tournament. Not sure if they were missing players or not.

NEFC should be even better as they added the player SPOL but they were tops anyway

Interested to see who pools players and what impact that will have.

So SPOL has a pretty good second team, but they didn’t move up any of those kids? Instead they replaced the First team kids who left solely with players outside of the club? I can’t imagine that went over well with the second team parents. Pretty telling. Curious if that is common practice with other clubs?

                              Of course.

SPOL second team is a long way from the top team.
I’ve heard rumors the 07 coach might follow his 03 friend somewhere else.

Both teams were in the premiership, so the second team must have had some good players?
