Younger ages, the Refs will speak to the kids before showing a card. Older ECNL games are generally pretty tight. They have three man crews and are typically the better refs.

Poster is saying that in older games there is likely to be rough play but the refs hold in it in check. They specifically mentioned older ECNL games not high school games.
High school games can be a disaster. most times there is just one ref for regular season high school games. They miss everything.
Do you need it spelled out for you in more granular detail?

Older kid playing against one of their teams in a couple weeks. At least he now has the scouting report.

The issue was a CFC team apparently was shoving and fouling a certain player multiple times.
There is a HUGE difference in playing tough/hard and being dirty. From the original post I didnt see anything dirty about it. Players Get fouled....it happens
It sounds more like the player getting fouled....cant handle the physical aspect of this game.
This isnt golf....

How about this: if a team or a particular player is better, you still do your best to try to win within the rules, but if you're beaten by better competitors, applaud a good performance and maybe take a little pride in giving it your best effort. I believe there's a word for that... rhymes with "sportsmanship."

Originally posted by Unregistered View Postbetter players will get hacked, that's just part of the game. You can call it targeting, but its still a compliment. It only says they cant contain this player and their only option is to foul. I don't have a problem with that. It only becomes a problem if their intent is to injure.
That is where coaches need to step in. Normally if this is a boys team, his teammates should be taking notes during the game and finding an effective solution to this problem. This is something the girls don't do enough of.
