Across the country Clubs are putting B teams into GDA. Girls don’t want to give up the high school experience. Playing multiple sports prevents injuries.

California is prime example. Burlingame and PSV Union have collectively scored 13 goals and conceded 438.

Armed with the basic knowledge about our fractured & diluted local club landscape. Throw in our geographically remote location in the far pacific northwest of the US. The writing is on the wall: Thorns Dev Academy will do everything it can with the assistance of US Soccer to maintain it’s status as the top platform for elite level girls in our State and across the country.

Also, our local clubs will do everything they can in a desperate attempt to become relevant vs the DA, but without a body of work or coaching staff that meets US Soccer DA requirements they will be forced to rely on the ‘selling ’ of a club mantra and the lower tiered levels of club competition.

Yes, the rhetoric will lose traction, especially without substance.

Outcomes are very predictable, it’s inevitable and history reflects what has happened on the boys side of club soccer with the emergence of the decade old Boys DA.

They are trying the same methods that have failed on them men's program. Why? The men's program has seen very poor results.

Thorns were NWSL champs the last two years in a row.

We're all speaking in US generalities not Thorns. The MNT has gone nowhere, even receded. DA players look like robots and college coaches looking for international players more than ever. GDA isn't going to help the WNT.

US Soccer wants emotionless robots. That is why they ban kids from high school. Take the emotion out of it. Soccer should be a job if you want to be the best. Having friends and peers support you is distracting.

You have to be pretty dumb to not realize that you are paying a premium price for a mediocre product. Oregon ECNL is a mediocre product at best. Some of the FC Portland players realized this and joined the Thorns.
