Could he be the next US coach? I'm not sure this is the best time to hire one, given that Gulati is up for reelection and that post should be filled first. Otoh if they want an MLS guy, better to do it now before the season starts.

The MLS is a revolving door of coaching re-treads, why? the league is structured as a single entity, you never really get fired from a team per say, the MLS headquarters just reassign you to another parity ridden squad in another city. If that’s what you mean by having his choice of gigs. Being transfered, how appealing can that be?
Nobody wins in the MLS by design or ever ascends to great things abroad. The only competitive advantage in player selection is given to major markets with the big name DP’s of accelerated age. Not exactly the template for an ambitious coach to make their mark and move forward. Porter earned 68 wins out of 170 matches....
Perhaps back to college? Who knows
The MLS will never be a platform for American coaches to hone their craft or make their mark then move onto the world stage.
If, Porter is going to go after a job abroad maybe he can be the first to make it...applaud him if that’s his ambition.
Maybe like all of us he finally had enough of the idiots MP and GW. If that’s the case Caleb Porter you are a God.

Gavin is terrible and thinks he’s God.
Merritt loves GW because he’s helped build a $3.5 million investment into $130 million. Forget that they are failing in their youth academy and/or local youth soccer

Resigning, firing, retiring or quitting--really doesn't matter--the fact is he is gone.
Time to move forward in Portland, as if that's possible.

Well, if it was a power struggle, everyone involved is making nice today.
