It may have been different had the top teams like DeAnza, Mustang or Davis joined but this schedule is built for success for Ws
A lot of De Anza players actually made the move to SJ Quakes.
A lot of these teams will be adding new players and dropping weaker players for this new league. Good news for Thorns is that Seattle Reign left ECNL for GDA, and Crossfire Premiere are playing their top teams in GDA, so local competition will be great. The Crossfire B teams will be playing in ECNL which is the shift that will trend will most clubs by 2019.

over the years daughter has played in a ton of tournaments along the west coast - Mustang, Surf, Players and I had to look up Burlingame and PSV Union as I have never even heard of them. Those are the top teams that NorCal has to offer

The top Nor Cal clubs turned down GDA. ECNL still the top tier in Nor Cal but most girls in No Cal are aiming for college, not the pros.

GDA will be top tier for college and pros. Just like DA is for boys.
ECNL is now second tier, just like ENPL is for boys.

The same Seattle Reign who lost to Oregon ECNL teams and lost to other ECNL teams Oregon teams beat? I guess that's good news for thorns academy. Should be an easy win for them.

League hasn't had one kick off yet and you're declaring ultimate supremacy?

GDA overall will be #1 but it will vary by area - NoCal an example and a few other areas. Not every top player will move over either. ECNL will remain a very strong #2 league right behind it, much to USSF's chagrin.

Burlingame = Eastside Timbers quality level.

Nope the top norcal clubs are Deanza Force, San Juan, and PSV Union
As an aside, the top utah program is la Roca.
Deanza Force is moving its top tier to San Jose Quakes. Andres Deza and his new FC Barcelona former academy director moving the top of the roster to San Jose. The new program will essentially replace the Deanza Force ECNL program. PSV union is one o the most respected clubs in the country.
San Juan had a great ECNL teams, but they are moving the best players to the Davis Legacy half of the merger. This way both clubs keep first and second tier kids. A trend in the making.

But yeah you may be able to quibble a bit about the consistency of the teams/clubs for a year or two, but not much longer than that it will be clear which is the "A" league in the country

Older Reign teams are not good. Younger teams are quite good and their U14 ECNL team is very good.

NorCal top clubs are staying Ecnl for now. Like Sting in Texas and others, Ecnl still serves their top players the best. In a few years, things may change. At that point, those top clubs & players will change. They don't want to jump off a successful ship until a proven better ship comes along. Top players can switch anytime they want.

Bottom line is good players that want to play in college can. Doesn't matter wether they play Ecnl, Academy or good club travel team. Thanks to Title ix, there are tons of spots available for females. Everyone should enjoy their choices and be happy they have choices.

Give it 3-4 years and that might change!

Yes they dominated the Oregon ECNL teams (three 1-0 wins, one 2-0 win). But surely they can't beat that stellar 03 team Thorns GDA assembled.

That's dominated? Sure they beat them, but dominated would be more like 4-0, or 6-0....
