It is incredible how bad MLS teams are at graduating their own academy prospects into the first teams. So many academy members get tossed aside and never play any meaningful minutes for the senior team anyway. A top kid would do much better to figure out some way to get to europe at 16 rather than wait around in the USA.

JK, during his brief tenure, told players to abroad whenever possible. He was and still is right. MLS is fortunate that 1) few players can before they're 16 2) US parents are so focused on education and some won't let their kids walk away from nice scholarship packages.
