Human nature tho, those on the middle rungs will do anything to differentiate themselves from the rung below and portray themselves as on the rung above.
Spot on. Anyone that takes this youth soccer business seriously, is absolutely being played.

My youth hockey team made it to the hockey finals in Michigan when I was 12. A couple of upsets along the way. It was a fantastic experience and something I'll never forget.

My daughter last year went to the NPL finals, and seeing how she felt about it brought back some pretty cool memories. I'm glad she had the opportunity to experience it.

Does it mean anything for her in anything beyond just an enjoyable experience? No

That is a healthy and level headed outlook on youth sports in general. It’s these crazy youth spirts parents that live and die by the stats of their kids and teams, which is concerning.

New England Soccer is pretty good.
                    2004 = SSS win
2003 = NEFC as Runner up
2002 = GPS as good as Runner Up

                        You're right, sorry about that.
                        GPS was undisputed runner up.

GPS went 3-0 in bracket play, and lost to champion 2-1
The opponent in final went 2-0-1 and lost to champion 4-1.

Appreciate you motivating me to go look it up.

My kids not with GPS either. I root for New England.
You either win or you don't. After that, the case for GPS as #2 is pretty strong

There isn't a league or competition in the world that considers a semi-final loser runner-up, ahead of a finals loser.

Anyone with half an inkling of a sporting even knows you can't look at a 3-goal final loss to mean anything.

Which is exactly why someone wrote "as good as"
but then your panties wadded up, so that started the conversation.

That conversation happens on barstools about competitions around the world .
