    Chris Lavers lowers the hammer

Apparently there is an EXIT plan for ECNL over the coming 5 years. Chris Lavers, current President of the ECNL, has confirmed that the ECNL and GDA will be unable to maintain two leagues.

ECNL will give way to the GDA over the next few years, with EACH ECNL applying for GDA membership, and transitioning from younger ages (not existing ages).

The BIG concession was HS Soccer ... which appears will be allowed AFTER the transition is complete.

So the battle between ECNL and GDA ends as it should, with the FLAG winning.

    Have a wonderful July 4th.

We all know two leagues are unsustainable. USSF is the one that decided we needed a 2nd national league and refused to read market demand.

More clubs have left than entered and the replacements are weaker than the departures.

Will. Never. Happen. USSF is hard fast on that rule and giving up on the girls side means they have to give for the boys. Will. Never. Happen.

ECNL is winning in certain regions, GDA others. Neither will ever be a true national league unless GDA shrinks to improve it's quality.

Just filling a need for many players locked out of ECNL. If ECNL wasn't so dooshey then GDA never would’ve got started

The market is just fine. Of course a combined league would be so much better

USSF should move to withhold all sanctioning for US Club, forcing them to concede their ECNL monopoly, that would head directly to court, and they would all reach a settlement, we can only pray...

Court? It's youth soccer. Pretty sure it is legal for anyone to start a soccer league if they want to. Who would care enough to take a youth soccer league to court? Relax.

Don't quit your day job to become a lawyer. Monopoly? You might want to look up what the word means. With who knows how many leagues and clubs out there, consumers have multiple choices. Since USSF started a new one there's no barriers to entry either.

Players were locked out for a reason. The clubs deemed them not skilled enough. So now you've confirmed what we already knew - GDA is taking players who couldn't make ECNL teams.

Or, more likely in much of the country, cannot reasonably get to an ECNL club. ECNL would rather make you drive outside your Region vs. playing equal teams in your own backyard.

Maybe they have stock in major oil companies?

Let’s be real. ECNL is ran by eclipse/hawks/stars/pda. They were seeing their revenue streams dry out, college coaches bypassing ECNL so they did the only thing they could.

As far as competitiveness - look at last years PDA GDA playoffs vs this years’s ECNL playoffs. Whereas last years they couldn’t compete with podunk California teams, now they seem to be in control of the playoffs. One national championship in the bag, and maybe 1-2 more coming their way. It’s like winning the northern counties league again. Feels great.

Or high school varsity ... so let's play academy instead and tell everyone that is why we arent playing HS soccer.

Word. I know a few who didn't make their HS teams. Freshman year ok, I'll give a little leeway if it's a top HS program with loads of club players (not many of those). But by sophomore year you should be on varsity AND playing. Non varsity or bench warmers are not the type of players who should be in the supposed "top" league.
