this is pure fiction. the point is that a top level nationally relevant player should be sifting through offers from the very best schools. players that choose Rutgers over other options, do so for a reason. your point about memories is spot on, however some kids want to be challenged more than others.

why is that a farce? are you implying that 30% to say Duke is worse than a full ride to Rutgers?

A general point using your example, a kid who "doesn't want to be the 6th recruit at UNC or Penn State" is signalling that they dont want to compete with the best players for time. I have no issue with that at all, but its still a signal.
I was really referencing the person who mentioned how "big players show up in big games" and how "that she chose rutgers really says it all." That is absolutely using her choice of school as an insult.

Also, sometimes it is about wanting to play immediately and be on field making an impact. Maybe she wanted to stay in NJ. Rutgers was ok for Lloyd, I am sure it will be fine for her if she wants to stay playing and continue in the NT system. She's already there, so the coaches already see her all the time. I guess its just who knows why she chose Rutgers. Most likely a bunch of different reasons factored.

And do you know that she was not sifting through offers from the very best schools? Do you know anything about this player before you make your judgments? Find something else to talk about. All you need to know is that she is happy where she is in her soccer journey.

From a money perspective, yes. One offer means college costs you $0 and the other means it still gonna be $100k+ out of pocket. The value of a Duke education vs. Rutgers being somewhat variable, depending on your field of study.

You obviously wear your MAGA hat proudly. Ironically your favorite food is likely fried rice and dumplings. You are a first rate POS!

I thought she was Japanese? Isn’t that why someone called her Tokyo Rose? Dim sum is Chinese.

no one said she wasn't. the point is IF you are sifting thru offers from the best schools, then Rutgers is a strange choice. Simple really. if i offered you a free ride to any school in the country for soccer, map out the scenario for me where Rutgers is so far and away your first choice that you commit early?

err..yes, we get the math, but that is by no means farcical. What is farcical is your comment re the value of a Duke education.

The post about the full ride vs a partial scholarship was just pointing out the fact that so many early commits to schools such as, Duke, Penn, etc. aren't really what people think. Some of these big names are great for their education, yes, but some naïve people think that because they see those university names that the player committed must be great.

                                No, they're good enough.

Great players get 75% to full rides; and many from our area just aren't getting those numbers. Their parents just want to make you think their kid is something special because they got a commit. IMO the "special" is shown in the money offered.
