Granted, the Public School system may be " mess' , however , the list of American Institutions and practices today that are also a " mess " is quite lengthy. Incompetence is rampant in our society . And you can't generalize about Public Schools. There are schools in the inner cities in America that are doing a bang up job.

History is full of people that have brought themselves through circumstances worse than what exists in today's Public Schools. For many, Public Schools are still the best hope and maybe the only hope to climb the ladder leading to success and prosperity.

It all begins in the home. Before pointing the finger at Public Schools, the administrators, the teachers , the system, take a look at the American family of today. Studies are beginning to emerge regarding the pitfalls of Day Care , and the falling percentage of children in married households, as just two examples.

Even the children of so-called affluent familes are different today from past generations. Over scheduled, over structured, lack of family meals together at home, lack of free , imaginative play, etc. are all circumstances that Public Schools have to deal with.

The mistake that is made is to think that private schools are filled with nature's perfect children. Quite the contrary.

No, you said it , and meant it. You took a slap at Public schools, and now are scurrying around trying to mitigate the damages.
You may be confusing BTDT with MASC, but I agree with your point about it starting at home. That's not to let schools off the hook (what BTDT has to say comes from experience) however, public schools do have to play the hands that they are dealt. Private and parochial schools a little less so.

Just ignore those posts and carry on with the thread topic discussion. How hard is that?

When speaking about organized sports in the schoolastic environment, the children are members of the team. Of course they should have input. However without the taxpayer, in a pubic school setting, or the tution payer , in a private setting, there would not be any teams.

Since the providers of the activities have a vested interest in the sport,as parents , and paying customers , they are therefore entitled to an opinion. The question of leadership abilities provided by Public or Private schools is relevant to the subject. Unless you are talking about games and activities without the organization, that is, just involving the children in free , imaginative unorganized play , providers do have a right to give their opinions.

What is the update on Lincoln-Sudbury? Did they come to their senses and have Captains or not? How are the refs dealing with no "official" captains? Anyone been at one of their games?

until the last post attempting to bring it back on track, there was no more discussion. It was this huge political public/private school debate (particularly like the previous post, OUR TAX DOLLARS PAY FOR THIS YA KNOW!!!! - I think the point was not that you shouldn't have an opinion, but that as actual members of the team, the players might have a different perspective).

Really, when you go to work do you have a team leader. I bet you support removing the term "owner' from the NBA. You are an asshat

At my job we have team leaders. It entails a lot of Extra work and responsibility , for very little compensation in return. Not many want to bother with it, unless they’re the type that likes a title , and/or hopefully has good leadership qualities.

The bot makes more sense than many of the posters in this forum.
