When FYSA announced last season that they would go to a promotion relegation model for FSPL, this league was a part of the plan which is now being rolled out. Basically it is 3rd division FSPL with the chance to get promoted to second division. Unlike FSPL, it is not state wide, but regional to cut down on travel. How good or weak it will be remains to be seen. Personally, I like the pro-rel concept and am glad to see FYSA adopting it. The ECNL/DA model involves club wide acceptance and not an individual team earning its way in and staying there. I can see the upside from planning for that model, but that closes the door on smaller clubs or clubs that are growing but might be geographically too close to an older and dying club (CC anyone?)

I guess you can call it a state league but its actually 3 leagues that each play regionally. Applied teams are posted.

Jill H at from the FYSA office and Shenoy (VP Comp) both told membership at the region C AGM that a lot of clubs wanted this. Guess it was a lie. New leadership is needed in both roles.

Problem is FYSA was late to the party on this. If they wanted to do this, (which they should do) they need to start it a year from now so teams have time to prepare. Putting it in a few weeks before tryouts and expecting it to catch on is a pipe dream.
In the short term they should probably worry about getting sites ironed out for FSPL.

This new FYSA league is a joke based on the lack of teams posted. The north division only got 13 teams total between all of the age groups. FYSA should save face and issues refunds now without teams having to ask.
