No one turns down the ECNL team in favor of the Wolves. Agree, Wolves and the NPL squad are probably a toss up. The difference is exposure. NPL team gets an automatic bid to PDA. For players with college aspiration, that's the event.

True that. But if you're not going to be a starter on the NPL team then playing locally with less cost and travel might be the better call.

The ones who "don't bother" are the ones that don't make ECNL. If the choice is NEP or CFCU NPL then staying with Wolves is probably a better choice. But if you make ECNL you take it.

Its a rarity now for kids in the north to even go and tryout for United ... 4/5 kids this year would be a lot for a normal year. The powers that be appoint a west or southwest branch at U13 and then very few kids care to fight the system .... why arent the wolves ever appointed pre-ecnl?

In the past I would say that was a rarity. But now they're not taking as many Arsenal kids and West collapsed, which was another source for a few more.

Possibly a smart coach(es) made the decision? Schlepping down to Long Island and points south for competition that isn’t a whole lot better than what the team is currently playing doesn’t seem like a smart choice. There isn’t a whole lot of difference between NEP and Pre-ECNL.

Dumbest post of the year. Your kid could be the best player on the Wolves and not get recruited for college because no one will see her, and not be prepared for college because there is a HUGE difference in level of play. Wolves as a branch have been lousy for several years but starting to come back. Used to keep players together but then GBury HS coach started losing them to OW and wouldn’t even have them for HS. Lol. Now those kids are coming back to HS and the coach pushing them along to United. Better to have them for HS than lose them altogether.

They'll be thanking mom when they get recruited. Wolves players won't be so fortunate.

Also, if players are playing because parents make them? The family has a lot of issues beyond soccer.

Cfc sucks
