First the teams will still play in their respective countries during league play. This league is only conflicting with the champions league and Europa leagues. It’s basically having a tournament and only putting the so-called top clubs against each other with out allowing other clubs a chance to make it unless they get picked which 5 teams will have a chance every year.
Only thing people over in Europe don’t like it is because it’s new and they don’t want to change.
Also it’s about money for both sides. I think the big clubs don’t want to keep sharing their money with the small clubs. This is what’s happening now clubs that make the champions league and Europa have to share a certain percent of their money with their federations.
The leagues themselves don’t want this to happen because tv money/sponsorship will go away.
You can call it greed but if you run a big club and are spending a lot of money on players why should you have to give it to lower clubs? The owners are taking all the risk in buying players to win and if I doesn’t work out are other clubs going to help them?
Again it’s all about money but they are adults dealing with adults it’s not like club soccer where kids are involved.
And to the OP: you are making an apples to oranges comparison when you speak about youth and professional soccer. Youth soccer is for development and fun. It’s not a truly competitive platform like paid professionals who are mostly over 18 years old. The concept of promotion and relegation can’t (or shouldn’t) be applied when youths are developing.

You know the whole 'Soccer is not bred into the American culture' complaint? this is why
UEFA has its problems, but the European model has a lot of benefits for the sport and the fan base.
These American owners are going to make a ton of money in the short term, but will degrade the depth and enthusiasm of their audience in the long run.

Strangely enough CBS soccer had the best domestic coverage of the new league. If you can speak Spanish the interview with the Real Madrid owner is pretty interesting. He’s trying to put the spin on this this the league is an open league...eventually.

Look at who is running the Super League: President is the Spanish owner of Real Madrid and Vice Presidents are Italian owner of Juventus and English owner of ManU. There are certainly some American owners involved in this, but this isn’t an American idea. It’s been kicked around for years and I’m not surprised to see the Real Madrid owner as the President because Real Madrid is a financial basket case. The issue is the mainly EUROPEAN owners leveraged these top clubs to the gills with ridiculously expensive players and stadiums and then sold shares to investors who now want to see a return on their investment. They keep digging a deeper and deeper financial hole and they think this European Super League will save their ownership, but it won’t. Eventually they are going to need to sell their clubs to settle their debts.

The 15 ‘founding’ clubs get automatic berths with 5 at large invites.
