NECSL is a new (Fall 2020) league and growing. Direct competition to NEP without the club controlling cartel aspect: https://www.thenecsl.com/
We were told our club was moving to the Necsl. We were worried about fewer flights and competition being too advanced. The league director assured us the competitive level would be equal to CCL. We willl see, but does feel better that many or all clubs have also moved with us.
Nobody will be playing in the NEP next fall. The NEP is dead.
I wonder what next season will hold for NEP? Is the Departure of Seacoast and NEFC from NEP board indicative of possibility of all their teams pulling out and heading into EDP/NECSL leagues? It would seem that EDP is the NEP version of NPL with the clubs top teams playing in there NOW due to not having ECNL or Academy status especially on boys side? Seems like a big restructure of leagues movements is on the way.
The big EDP/USYS/NECSL advantage is it is merit based. Most NEP clubs were effectively locked out of NPL. Any team good enough, even it's from a 1 team club, can play at the top in the NECSL/EDP/USYS model.

Just looked up the 30 clubs for necsl. Come on man!!!! These are the dregs. Letting anyone in?
Stop promoting like this is some great league. The truth is there is zero, zero quality. Your just taking checks. Its the gps playbook to a T.
You have no idea what you are talking about, why kids play soccer to begin with, or why parents are willing to pay for something outside of volunteer town coaches.

NEP probably not going anywhere. 90% of these NECSL clubs were in the Northeast Soccer League (NSL) which was around for a few years after Maple folded. NSL became CCL for a season or two and now there is NECSL, which includes the Surf and Juventus teams that are mostly regional team leftovers from GPS after it folded. You have the same lower-level clubs that have been around for years and years in a lower-leveler league (NSL/CCL/NECSL) alongside NEP, which has the bigger clubs that usually have better quality players. You keep seeing shuffling at the upper level GA/DPL/NPL, but few, if any, bigger clubs pulling out of NEP entirely.
