The right team is hard to find

We moved from Germany where my son trained in soccer from an early age. He is 11 now and his skills, abilities, and smart playing are much more advanced than his 11 y old peers. Phase 3 of state opening allows us to do trial practices with teams from few clubs in the Seattle area. The bottom line is we are not able to find the right team for him. What teams are the most competitive; Not even clubs but U12 teams? Where we should look for an ambitious and smart soccer here.

    Smart? PacNW.

    Ambitious? Crossfire.

Might depend on which part of Seattle you live in.

American soccer is going to be on a much lower level than Germany. So if this kid really is as good as it sounds, he will just need to play one or two years up (so with older kids). Crossfire tends to have some of the best teams, but of course every age group is different.

Crossfire is your best bet in the Seattle area. You'll want him to try out for ECNL, as he's old enough for next season, which is a separate date from RCL league tryouts.

PacNW has been kicked off the RCL board for 3 years for cheating and isn't allowed to club pass kids this year, also due to cheating. Certainly not a ringing endorsement.

What do you mean by club pass kids

Club player pass, allows guest players within the club. They kept stacking their lower division teams with higher division players for league games. I saw a div 3 game where Pac had 5 ECNL players on the field, 2 dual rostered and 3 guest playing.

Not sure what the actual rules are, but that is certainly far outside the spirit of guest players.

If you live in Seattle and do not mind driving your kids all over Seattle, then Seattle United would be a good club to go to. Start emailing the coaching directors and they will have your son come out and see where he fits.

                    Good advice.

Definitely XF for the clubs. The best coaching is at Sounders Academy, which is your son is accepted, doesn't cost anything. Sounders scouts and pulls players from all over the country, but they will let players apply. The XF program would be considered a rival program. PacNW and Seattle United worked with Sounders in the past to identify players, but now that those clubs have boys ECNL, I'm not sure if the relationship remains as friendly -- pure speculation.
Here's the link to Sounders info:

                        2009 or 2010 birth year?
Where do you live. Go to the closest club possible, get your bearings and then decide what club is best for your son on your own.

Just FYI, the age particular age group you are talking about is extremely good at Seattle United. Coach also is not from the US and the style of play is much more about complete football. Possession, decision making, ball movement. The individuals are really good, but they play team ball. That is not an easy team to make. Best of luck finding the right fit!

I think PAC might be the best option for that age group. They have Viet Nuyen as a director and he is an excellent coach. One of the best in the state.

Viet Nuyen doesn't coach boys over 12 strictly a youth coach and their play is to slow . I've seen a lot of game when they played Xfire and they look stuck in the mud... go play for to Xfire and tell you boys to play fast and go hard from the start to the end of practice and games ...
