what is wrong with the USA

"We have players that aren't moving. We have people on the ball that aren't committing defenders to make decisions, to open up spaces. We have guys that look like they're just don't really want the ball, and so it just kind of goes back to a mostly mentality for me."

What do u expect when every team plays to win from age 6 and its all about "possession"?

Don’t understand how this isn’t getting more pub. What a disgrace! All those kids who would have watched them and maybe played soccer, gone. All the money US Soccer could have made with merchandise, gone. SMH

We have developed technically excellent players, because that's what coaches and trainers can show the parents and charge them fees, but tactically there is very little training being done. Watching the replay of the Honduras game saw many players not moving to open spaces to give the player with the ball options. The pace of play was also slow, too many players waiting for the player to be taken to them and not the other way around. Not having the best age available players also hurt this teams chances as well as they were busy playing friendlies with the senior team, it as if the USSF looks at qualifying for the Olympics as a bonus not a necessity.

Tactical? Seriously? They suck and have zero speed of play
"I don't know that if I've ever seen a game where we've had players miscontrol the ball so much by going under people's feet, passing out of bounds," Kreis said of Sunday's game

you are correct...also, i'm just going to add that losing to Honduras is like losing to the Long Island All Star team. I think I would also put my money on our local boys.

Just another example why the former DA system was all bullsh-t.

Yep. In South American countries they sell their 11 year old's to soccer academies. In Europe they have public schools dedicated to soccer players. Neither of them suffer much from pay to play. There are no college sports to waste promising players times. Top countries like Germany have a national soccer syllabus that literally every player learns so that they are already on the same page when called up to the national teams. Iceland built a mini-turf field in the playground of every single public school. It's no wonder we can't compete.

In a nation of 335M it's inexcusable to not be able to field a competitive team. No soccer isn't a big part of the US athletic culture but there are plenty of high potential players out there. Too often they're not identified or have proper development opportunities. How many top players in the last several years have had dual passports so they could train and play overseas? Or had a parent who knew what they were doing?

There are many many many reasons why the usmnt is not competitive on the world stage.

The fact that Our best athletes are playing other sports is one excuse out of many. Why play soccer if i can go to the NFL and make 20x more than a soccer player?

In this upcoming World Cup cycle team USA could potentially have the most talented gifted and experienced team ever. The core group will be experienced playing Champions league, Europa league as well as for the top leagues in the world other than cycles past that had the team made up of MLS all stars who were totally intimidated by the speed of play and power of these world class players. As long as there is no Altidore or Zarde the USA can make it out of their group. You keep hearing about why is USA soccer not developing players, but they are. Right now the best leagues and clubs in the world are scouting and signing the best young talent in this country. You have American kids playing for Barcelona and every top club in EPL, Seriale A, and La Liga. I think this was carefully planned Nd started by Klinnesman and players like Pulisic and McKennie are leading the charge. This USA team could potentially be it’s best and most talented ever because of the shift of the best players playing their most formative years in acadamies across Europe.

What part are you having a hard time understanding. I thought (beyond spell check errors) my point was very clear.

It was a valid point and the anti-DA crowd just hates to acknowledge that the system was really starting to pay off for the boys.

If anyone remembers Klinnesman said that American players must go train and play in Europe if we are to compete on the world stage. MLS and US Soccer went crazy when they heard that coming from the US Coach. Klinnesman understands that the experience of playing in Europe in major tournaments and for big clubs in the major leagues is the only way America can succeed on the world stage. The same reason the best basketball players from around the world want to compete in the NBA. Pulisic opened the eyes of a whole new generation that want to follow in his foot steps. If it was up to MLS his rights would be owned by the Philadelphia team and instead he is now playing for Chelsea. The exact opposite was Jordan Morris who turned down playing in Europe and stayed in MLS. He has never become the player he had the potential by playing MLS and now he tried to move up and got injured. The problem with USA soccer is not the players it’s USA and MLS who together want to control soccer in this country.
