Sounds like PSPL Washington Cup is basically dead in the water too. It doesn’t make any sense to even try to do them this year short of bringing in cash for the leagues. It would be surprising if tournaments are even allowed in Washington this summer. Teams haven’t played in a year and are already trying to ram in a short season in 2 months. Don’t know about anyone else, but my sons team is playing every Saturday and Sunday except Easter until May. Some teams are even scheduling games on Easter weekend. These “championships” have always just been cash grabs by the leagues, but it’s even more apparent when they are trying to hold them this year. Guess WYS need some way to keep giving themselves their crazy salaries.

Because there are already RCL games scheduled for both weekend days for most of the dates that fall within the state cup time frame. Tryouts are scheduled for dates within the state cup window. Finding fields and avoiding conflicts would be incredibly difficult. High school kids are already playing every 2 days between school and club team for the next 6 weeks, to pile more games on to that is asking for lots of injuries.

Personally glad the club said no.

There 100% will be tournaments this summer. This has only to do the with the condensed schedule and the oddities of trying to get high school mixed in as well. It will not roll into the summer.

At least most clubs are discounting dues next year.

Why would they, next year should be a "normal" year for club soccer?

Because clubs have charged parents for state cup fees for the past two years. That money is staying with the club, not being returned to families or being used to pay for State Cup.

The fees for state cup is very minimal. Depending on the size of the team, maybe $25/player. Keeping those fees does not have an impact on the club's bottom line.

What about the cost for the refs and fields for state cup bracket games? I am sure those are rolled into what families are paying.

It is not just state cup. There are a ton of games not being played either. If you didnt get a refund or a discounted rate for this year, it may be time to ask.

Our club “rolled” refunds into payments towards this year’s dues. They have been very active finding scrimmage and travel opportunities. We haven’t played league, but our teams trained more than ever. I’m not expecting any sort of “discount” next year.

our club didn't charge when training wasn't allowed, but continued to pay the coaches, gave us one free month of training once it was allowed. Organized scrimmages when they were permitted, but league games were not. We've got 16 league games that's only 4 less than a normal year, not gonna sweat it all thing considered.

No impact? are you serious? Boys and Girls from U12 - U19. lets say a minimum of 2 teams per age group? between 28 and 40 teams per club?

                              28 x $550 x 2 seasons = minimum of $30k per club? Is that immaterial to you?

keep in mind most clubs charged full freight and received significant PPP funds.

I guarantee this was the most profitable season ever for soccer clubs. Some local clubs were struggling financially prior to COVID - FWFC, Sound... are you aware of any club that folded or laid off coaches?

I am not asking for a refund. But how about some transparency?

“Hey, we made more money than we expected this year, so we are increasing our scholarship fund and will be making it easier for kids to qualify”.
