What’s going on at Barca Academy NY?

It looks like this club continues to fall apart. The Operations Manager quit and they had to bring in a new guy from Barcelona again. The director of the girls program left for Barcelona in the beginning of December and never returned. Players are trying out at different clubs.

Is this the end of this Academy or just further weakening their footprint in NY?

Tough to come here and establish something big. It takes a lot of time and doing things the right way. Possibly the best way if you really want to make it is to buy out a club that is established. Ideally one with fields. This is very complicated.

With this said, how is Valencia doing? I have heard nothing.

If you are part of the club you are informed. Clearly you are not and just a pot stirrer. Does this really affect your pathetic life that much? Seriously dude.

Turnover is very high at Barca. The coaches see New York as a 6-12 month vacation while players and their families have a hard time supporting the multi team per age group setup. Nobody wants to play on a B, C, and in some instances, a D team. Nobody wants to pay their steep tuition to play 5th division NYCSL.

And yet they do pay to play on B, C, and D teams. Heard only the A teams get non-US coaches.

...and every year they have fewer & fewer teams then the last. Barca’s best is behind them. It’s time to look elsewhere.

Seems like the opposite. Their A teams are generally good. But they should get rid of the teams below that because it diminishes their brand. On the other hand, it is pay to play, so they need the money. Only true academies are those who don't charge.

Barca's fairy dust is in low supply.

If there was a case study on how to run a good thing into the ground we could use this club as a prime example. Bad luck, a perfect storm, or whatever you want to call it, Barca keeps on taking shots.

If you don't believe that all this smoke around Barca doesn't affect recruitment and retention then you're not seeing all your options.

for all the barca haters out their (we know its susa people) go ask moussa how business started 15+ years ago. he will tell you he did not know if susa would survive week to week and month to month.

It takes years to build a brand. most of you are to dumb and short sided to see the value of competition among clubs on LI and the success of barca ny and and other clubs.

Can you really compare the two? Barca NY hastily threw out a social media post for their first tryouts and had over 1000 kids attend. SUSA had to do grassroots and acquisitions. Barca is 'backed" by one of the greatest sports franchises in the world, SUSA is bankrolled by a dude named Glen Schnieder who's still listed as a staff coach. One club has always had fields and facilities, the other one couldn't get the deal done.

From my side of the fence, it seems one has really overachieved and the other has underachieved.

The words aren't hateful but pretty fair and accurate.

                        Stay away from Barca.

in your opinion who has "overachieved" and who has "underachieved"?
                          just for clarification purposes.

I'm pretty sure i'm going to drop dead laughing but please enlighten us anyway.

The parents are what is holding together Barca because it's definitely not the club. Like the other poster mentioned, Baca is running itself into the ground. My advice to you is don't be the last rat on the sinking ship.

Susa has 100% overachieved. In just a few years they went from a couple of trainers who got hired by Daddy coached teams to work with town teams 1-2X a week to a huge ECNL club with their own field complex, multiple ECNL conference championships and an accomplished record of college placements. I'm not looking to shlt on Barca, but pound for pound, you can't compare the footprints of the 2 clubs on the local soccer landscape.
