Better idea would be to assess some current clubs and boot them for replacements, including allowing some teams in on a rare basis rather than needing entire clubs. Total #'s shouldnt be the goal, improving quality should be and the league will have a healthier future.

Expand what? They'll be lucky if they're still around next year. Once a few more top clubs move to ECNL it's over. ECNL won the war. GAL = the old NPL

Granted covid shutdowns aren't their fault, but the league was weak before that. There's a few top clubs ECNL wants to cherry pick but it will have a big impact. There are no other quality clubs left to fill in the gaps. GDA filled gaps with weaker and weaker clubs resulting in the current mess

USYS should have absorbed back in the DA clubs and integrated the one off teams at various ages into the conferences, like philly copa or real NJ. Then a slight rebrand and you would have a very viable alternative to ECNL (which would probably stay the clear #1 but the gap wouldnt be that huge).

GAL is not as bad as anyone making it out to be. Yes in our region NYSC and LISC are not top teams nationally, but NEFC, South Shore and Oakwood can all compete with top teams in country. They all have National players in their clubs and have done well in the old DA league. DA needs t keep expanding and gobble up more top USYS clubs and would be a very solid second league

Didn't GAL join USYS a few weeks ago? I thought they put themselves as the top division of USYS. That seems to assure their survival. I also agree that the clubs that can, will join ECNL which probably means a surviving GAL as the second national league.
