Has anyone produced research on what that "recruited athlete" has actually translated into, such as games played, games started, minutes played, seasons rostered, etc.? That data would be very interesting.

No clue, but who cares? If soccer got my child into Harvard, or Dartmouth, I could care less about minutes.

Not for the vast majority, not in this area, and mostly for sports other than soccer. College soccer is a dead end, even for most recruits, it’s the last time they’ll play.

At some NESCAC schools athletes make up 30%+ of the total population. Being an athlete is a hook.

They’re not getting money. They’re paying to play.

I said being recruited is a major hook.

Getting into some of the most elite colleges in the country and the rewards they will reap from the alum network at those schools??? What on earth would a parent complain about. Williams, for example, is one of the top schools when you look at how well the grads do out of school. Don't be an idiot. Most (all?) of us know that our kids are never going to go pro. What we are looking for is a way for our kids to get into elite schools and get a great education which could very well set them up on a path for a good life and a solid living. If you can get into Williams and need FA, you get it. Period. It's need blind thanks to a crazy endowment.

Excellent grades, average athletic ability, and a high income bracket, will get you into Williams or any one of these schools.

Let's take you out of we and talk about who's left. If you think this reasonably describes anything more than a small minority of parents and their excitement over college recruitment, you're fooling yourself.

The NEP and competition have become so watered down with all the “club partnerships” it’s basically NSL on steroids.

The NEP or “Partner” Clubs can’t keep a firm grip on the standards of these glorified town clubs.

You will never get this problem with ECNL.

I think you can say most college sports are a dead end. What's the likely hood of a college athlete going on to play a pro sport? I think it's less than 2% of all student athletes will turn pro. So let's move away from theres no further in playing pro soccer there's no future for 98% of college athletes playing a pro sport.

Atleast most college soccer players can probably go play in men's/women's leagues. What do you think are the options on a college football player playing after college?

Right, when Stars doubled the number teams, they didn't dilute the quality at all.

Why do town clubs worry YOU so much? You sound very insecure.

Eventually, everyone ends up in the beer leagues, no matter where they came from.

Which makes a teen’s soccer hook at a top 30 school in the nation all the more important. Everyone is making my point.
