Really?

Delegation, organization, communication and thoughtfulness and your done. Yes, we traveled a great deal and the coach essentially did nothing but coach, which is the way it should be. Quit patting yourselves on the back and watch the kids play soccer.

It doesn't work to take one and not the other. If you are going to complain, don't be surprised when they push back.
From my perspective our managers have always been great. They get a lot done, and are often the glue holding a team together.

Are there teams where multiple people compete to be team manager? If so, how is it decided? Is this where the politics come in? On every team we've been on, no one wanted the job.

Managers, for the most part, are underappreciated. They do lots, get little or no thanks, and have to listen to every moron complain about their special little monster. That said, I have known complete psycho, bat%#@* crazy ones too. Again, if you are not voluteering for the job, then you don't get to complain. Also, I think the idea of a rotating manager, three per season; maybe one for summer tournys, one for fall and one for spring season might be interesting. Walk a mile and such.

And one thing to add is that the team manager really gets to know the issues on the team. They hear and see a lot of the problems and the problem parents. And they get a lot of scoop from the coach and what the coach thinks. It's pretty interesting to say the least.

Many don't say anything, but I do think they appreciate the work. What I don't think they really appreciate is how much work it really is. It is a lot of work. It's not difficult work, it just can be a lot of work. But then again, my spouse is very detail oriented.
