In addition the other top WA clubs (Non-ECNL) already have been pulling out of NWCL because the value for them of playing Oregon and Idaho teams is just not there. Especially in the older ages.
This is most definitely a second rate league. Sounds like Greg Ion sold out / turned over the reigns to US Club and is moving on to something else.

      RCL for one.
Other poster even mentioned that RCL B teams are on par with OPL (and that's Oregon's best?) Ha ... this is a joke

Ok I'll give on this point: The NWCL will be a competitive league for second tier teams and clubs. Guess it'll be exciting to those players/teams. Kinda seems like we have a lot of average stuff around here already though. This just allows the average to travel around and thump their chests ... so be it.

At HS ages their ECNL teams participate. They qualify with a mixture of ECNL and Reserves, but they try and win it with ECNL

Sounds like a lot of sour grapes from the TA clubs that are being left out after this year. Have fun in FWRL, if your team is even "2nd rate" enough to get invited to that.

I'm sure the OYSA Timbers league will be far superior to NWCL. Just ask any Timbers lemming.

[QUOTE=Unregistered;1227632The NWCL was interesting because it allowed teams, regardless of their political affiliations, to compete when otherwise they couldn't (other then ad hoc meetings at summer tournaments).[/QUOTE]

Agree. The NWCL should change their name acronym to YAWN.
And here I was hoping for something that would shake up youth soccer in the NW. More of the same BS

Should be a big improvement. Fewer TA bootball teams equate to better soccer overall.

Sound like you know a lot about being average and chest thumping.

Nothing has been improved. Just repackaging the same BS.
Could care less if you're a supporter of OPL / OYSA / RCL / PSPL how is this better?

This divide and conquer mentality of the youth sanctioning bodies for no other reason then building their own organization is coming at the expense of the players and the game.

Place the blame on US Soccer if you want. They are the ones that chose to have 3 separate youth soccer sanctioning bodies (US Youth, US Club, and AYSO). They all have different values and philosophies and will attract the clubs that align with those values and philosophies. Some want extremely low cost (AYSO), some want several levels of governmental oversight and rule making (US Youth) and some want the individual clubs to have control of the environment that they work in (US Club). To each his/her own...

That's an over simplified statement. As organizations, US Club and US Youth Soccer want to dominate youth soccer. This organizational competitive obsession leads to decisions that don't necessarily serve the game or the player but is rooted in what's best for the organization to obtain it's goals.

For U11 you mean? One of the OPL clubs for sure.
