    I wasn't referring to girl's soccer.

I was referring to girls watching boy's soccer games like they go watch HS football and basketball.

LOL the "fame" rankings are paramount to Instagram followers.

News flash - women and gay men like to look at pictures of Ronaldo. The one thing you and your wife still share. Doesn't have anything to do with why American soccer underachieves.

Best Athlete, best competitor with best sport ability always rises to the top.

We have none of these type of people in the last choice sport for males in the USA.

We actually over achieve with our American grit and spirit.

Soccer allows donkeys with determination to compete and even get results vs. world powers on occasion.

Baseball, Basketball & American Football do not have this
          quirk.

How do you explain the fact American soccer players are renowned for their athleticism around the world.

Watching Salah, Mane, and Shaqiri run riot against Cardiff's large defenders, reading what Johnson has to say about the challenges he is facing in ball mastery . . . and reading "if only American football players chose soccer" tripe on here.

Yep. And then the posters here will go off to watch their kids play long ball this morning.

It's uderstandable: when their kids aren't being taught the importance of actually playing, and coaches in this state have to rely on athleticism and grit to get wins, then of course the conclusion is "we need better athletes". Pick the biggest fastest kids, hit it long, and then complain when they're not big or fast enough.

                  Pretty depressing.

We just need to get rid of that stupid offside rule. Then we would dominate.

Or, just wait until those big fast kids are 18 and wonder why they didn't trun out to be better soccer players even though they were the best at u14. No surprise there!

Yedlin ran the 40 in the 4.2/4.3 range - that is elite level speed by NFL standards: http://americansoccernow.com/article...-the-u-s-ranks

Here he is making up serious ground on Messi and outrunning him to the ball:

Yedlin is a serviceable EPL defender, but we don't need more players that can outrun Messi . . . we need more players that have attributes like Messi, Modric, Kante, and yes Ronaldo.

I followed the attachment and read the article. Yes Messi got him on 1V1 defending, ( Messi gets alot of people in 1v1 defending) This guy has only been playing defense since 12th grade and at 21 was playing in world cup because of his athletic ability. We need more of this type guy in soccer. They are coming, next 10 years should be fun for USMNT. And 10years from now we will be a power. US Athletes > then rest of world.
