USSF grandfathered in HS ball 2 years with the intent of letting the Jr's and Sr's play out. As long as they are not playing both at the same time, there is no issue with USSF. USSF does not care who wins a HS Championship in what state.

USSF did not intend to stop girls from playing HS these first 2 or 3 years though they did look to discourage it.

That being said, with the exception of WFF, there were a few players here and there playing at the same time. Overall, not very impactful unless you faced a HS filled with WFF players. I don't know how big a deal that is because WFF is rather middle of the road.

Then the crap hit the fan. People freaked out and wrote the schools, the clubs and USSF. USSF decided more clarification was needed and guess what.... a bunch of girls realized they could play after the Winter Showcase and only miss a handful of games.

So in essence, WFF was the catalyst. Parents losing their minds added the fuel and now you probably have more girls looking to jump in than you had before.

This all going to go away in a year or two anyway. Either the grandfather period will end or USSF will back off their stance on HS ball which has also been brought up.

True at some clubs, not all. If they wee already that good, they probably would have already been identified and asked to join.

It would be great if there was no poverty, the Jews and Arabs got along , taxes were minimal , girls soccer wasn’t as bad as it is, world peace and the us soccer leagues all got along ....

The talk was about Weston and USA GDA clubs letting their players do both GDA and HS at the same time, and then once USSF got involved those players had to stop playing HS but were told they could go back to the HS playing after the GDA regular season ended and had to clarify that the regular season ended after the last GDA game but were required to attend the Showcase in December. USSF DA is causing this mess. It needed to stick to its original plan of grandfathering in players who chose to play HS for the entire HS season, but instead caved to say they could go play during the recovery break as long as they returned for spring training in late January. But not the GDA players are saying who cares if we miss GDA practices and games in the spring because playing in the high school playoffs is more important than following the GDA rules. USSF is creating this mess and no one else.

If that is your perspective, I respect it. I don't agree with it but I understand why you feel that way.

USSF DA allowed high school during the winter break to encourage players to not play the entire high school season. This was a way for USSF DA to keep players training at the DA clubs and to show up for the DA showcase, and then to set its GDA players free. The USSFDA clarification was a way to keep players out of high school for the entire season. Ironic because it grandfathered every GDA high school age player into playing high school for the entire season.

Should GDA start in August and allow the girls to play high school from mid October to the end of playoffs and then GDA continue through the summer? No rest break period will be followed by the girls.

The real reason GDA players can get away with playing HS soccer is that there will not be a U.S. Soccer scout or College scout within 50 miles of a HS game to catch the kids red handed.

No, because only Florida treats soccer as a winter sport.

Boy you are thick - high school soccer is mostly played in the fall OR the spring everywhere else in the US. There is no perfect time to do it because of that, and certainly no one wants to play in the summer (vacations, camps etc). USSF isn't about to start making accommodations for HS anywhere, let alone one state. USSF doesn't care about HS. Period.

HS soccer must be real important if this was 1994
