This is a composite showcase. Most of the athletic scholarship money for this age group is gone.
If you player has not been "noticed" for her play by now, I hope she has been writing, sending video or web profiles to the school she wants to come see her play and hitting a couple ID camps. Otherwise all you have done is invested in your DOC's car payment the last 10 years.

Educate yourself on how the process really works or YOU will be paying that college tuition bill out of pocket and your kid will be playing intramural soccer with the rec crowd.

We learned to target, target, target. A handful of schools and direct a lot of energy toward them. Have daughter establish and maintain communication with the coach and build on that.

28 U19/U18 teams are attending along with U16 and U14 teams.

Are ECNL administration and the ECNL clubs doing enough to get the players a quality showcase or should the composite teams have done Disney?

Is it the same in other sports? Do college football coaches seek out players or do they wait until the players come to them?

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostFootball doesn't have the same pay to play club and showcase nonsense soccer does. But coaches have to hear about players somehow. Kids have to be contacting coaches with videos, HS coaches too saying "come watch this kid". Bball has AUU and other "elite" programs to showcase kids but HS is also still a component of recruiting. Soccer has made one stop shopping easy for college coaches and since soccer has smaller recruiting budgets they take advantage of it. But if you have two days to shop you have to be focused.

Not some, most but why even bother having your kid do this at this level if not for the opportunity a better school? 99.9% will not play professionally. Your answer seems somewhat fatalistic when you and your player should be the ones managing most of this.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostMany are, yes. Coaches at top programs get hundreds, if not thousands of players wanting to play for them. They don't need to shop around and pick the best. Why try and recruit players who aren't interested in your school? Smaller, lesser quality schools have to look around more. My kid keeps getting emails from school in Montana. No way the school has ever seen them play. Needless to say that ain't happening.
