To many "showcases". What makes it a showcase by the way?

If you don't know, you don't need to know.

It's where your team plays a set of games, but the results don't matter, in theory, to encourage coaches to play all players, so ALL get potential exposure to college coaches. Rarely are there ever finals or championship matches.

Every Florida college should be attending except the power D1.

Very weak showing of coaches probably because of Disney and other upcoming showcases. Probably not worth traveling that far for.

Smaller showcase for sure, but I noticed more coaches were posted today.

The list usually expands close to the event and some coaches don't register until day of or not at all. With so many events close together on the calendar programs are figuring out who is covering each event. My player just heard from one saying so-and-so is being switched for another coach.

There is only one coach that matters and that is the one from the college that is the right fit for your kid. The school that fits both athletically and acadmically. The one that your kid is talking to regularly, has expressed an interest, and really wants to see your kid play. If that one coach shows up that's all you need to worry about. Any parent that is simply hoping to see 300 coaches lining the sidelines with the hope of being "seen" is kidding themselves, it doesn't work that way.

A great post, but, most of the parents are being sold the crap about college showcases and how attending them will get your kid a scholarship

Agree but have also had this conversation with college coaches. The player does not have the time to go visit many schools and check out their academic and athletic programs. If a college coach sees her and shows an interest in her then she will go research the college and visit. Many players are over taking the lead and won’t take the time to spend hours trying to reach a coach and visit schools in New Jersey. Now if the coach sees her and makes an effort then she would fly up to New Jersey.

                            Good luck with that strategy.

The burden shouldn’t be totally on the player to find a good fit. Colleges shouldn’t only focus on the players who knock on their door and every other college’s door. The colleges should read the players information at the tournaments and scout the games and reach out to the players who have not contacted them but may be good fits. Colleges can call juniors!
