Good for the top teams to not play so many poor ones. But it isn't good if you're on a mediocre non MLS club. Now you won't be playing the top teams nearly as much, which is supposed to be one of the best things about DA. USSF only cares about the top players regardless who are almost all on MLS teams, so it makes sense.
Great timing with the announcement as well - after most clubs have given offers and players have accepted

I'm probably reading this wrong but you still are playing crap teams in your region right?
They added 4 off weekends to travel to other parts of the country or go international or host games.
So it seems what they are saying is it's going to cost more in travel either MLS clubs pay for it or parents pay.
Not sure the revs are going to spend Astra money for teams to travel across the country to play more games.

Translation: We are no different than ECNL or any other youth league. We are not about development but about making money.

I know the executives at SUM (Soccer United Marketing)...this is all about lifting up MLS academies. Solely a control play.
DA became too diluted with subpar teams. It reminds me of the Star-Bellied Sneetches (for those Dr. Seuss fans). Everybody had to get a DA team, but that does not mean we have that much talent in the U.S. of "DA" quality.

DA has gotten too big so yes there are a lot of sub par teams. This works well for the top teams, but if you're in the sub-par group the whole premise falls flat. Mediocre clubs, tons of money, aren't playing top teams, give up HS.

This is not relegation/promotion - this is likely MLS clubs wanting to play more games against each other - this is what will happen during the off weeks. Curious how Bolts will fill open weeks. Argument for Bolts DA vs GPS/NEFC/ECNL has been weakened under this.

Originally posted by UnregisteredMLS has wanted to split off for quite some time, with good reason. This gets them partly there. It definitely is very bad news for the weaker teams. Not only is the emotional appeal of playing in a league with pro players basically gone, but so is the reality that you will no longer be playing against some of the nation's top players. Now you'll be playing Beachside and FCW more often? Not very appealing at all.

It could be spun that the market talked, so they had to adjust. If you continue to make a product that isn't selling, that's stupid. You change the product to fit what will sell.
