    Thoughts?

They should use it for all calls that affect the game ,penalties in the box ,handballs ,direct kicks ,yellow cards.

No need for refs-drones are the answer
Why even use players-it should all be on Fifa 2019

Implementation in EPL has been better executed. They are overusing it in WWC and it is effecting the flow of the games. Officiating has been poor at times even without VAR. I watched the Netherlands-Cameroon game this morning and thought Cameroon couldn’t catch a break. Obvious foul calls going Netherlands way the whole game.

Flaw in your argument, EPL doesn't implement it until next season! But I agree that officiating at the WWC has been poor, and VAR is only as good as those operating it. Japan stole a win from Scotland due to poor refereeing and non-use of VAR.

VAR and poor officiating cost Nigeria the game today against France. Blocked the 1st PK and then made them retake it. Ridiculous making their GK stand so far into the goal that her toes were on the line. Impossible to stop a PK if the GK is so worried about foot placement or her head hitting the post. Apparently I wasn’t alone https://www.google.com/amp/s/soccer....v-nigeria/amp/

Definite flaw in the rule, if the PK misses the target (wide/over) it is unfair to penalize the GK, who didn't receive an advantage.

Not the only questionable call in this WC. At least one commentator in the US-Chile match disagreed with a ruling there. They also took forever to make the ruling ( a good 4 minutes) which threw off the game momentum.

Completely disagree. First PK was not blocked, it hit the post on its own. And the keeper definitely got an advantage by rushing out, cutting the angle and rushing the kick.

It wasn’t blocked, but the GK didn’t have an advantage. She was far off from stopping it if it hadn’t been wide. I don’t know why this needed to be called, or why it took so long to identify an obvious foul that caused the PK in the first place. Then VAR and the ref missed the encroachment call when the French players crossed the box line before the PK retake was kicked. Too much focus on where GK’s feet were and none on the French side. Nigeria did indeed get robbed. Watch the whole thing in the videos below...

Disagree. That was a foul and a fair PK.

After the Brazil Venezuela game its pretty clear VAR needs to go.

VAR the way it is being used needs to be modified. It should be somewhat like challenges used in NFL. Each team gets a total of 1 per half; that's it. All goals should be reviewed. There should be non-reviewable items and some that are automatic (like goals).

It seems like the VAR has taken the heat off the refs and they aren't making the calls anymore. They are waiting for the centralized system to call the game for them. That's not the purpose of VAR. It's to ASSIST not to govern/run the game.

It's new so it will be smoothed out based on how it is being used currently for future games/tournaments.
