We also took this approach and it did work well. But in order to do this, the player wouldn't be able to apply ED to their preferred school - agreed? Or was your niece able to find some way to work around that? Without making a commitment and applying ED, it's definitely a risky strategy in terms of getting accepted to preferred schools and then making the team as a then "non-recruited" player. It can work very well, but only if the player can get into the school(s) without benefit of that coach's tip/support and also is confident that the spot on the team would still be assured.

The Winners in this games are not those parents who shoot as high as they can (D3 or D1) but rather those who get as much as they can for the best fit.
        This is excellent.

Appropriate and reasonable targeting is straightforward. If narcissism gets in the way that's a very different problem.

As long as you understand that getting the best fit and most out of it can look different to different people. Those like BTNT seem to think they have jurisdiction over what makes sense for everyone else.

LOL...but you're looking forward to another decade of BTNT?

That's exactly the point. One person's dream school/dream team is another's nightmare. It's all about individual best fit. I agree that too many get caught up in the competitive atmosphere either with respect to academics or soccer, and lose sight of what is best fit for their student/athlete.

Then people shouldn’t come here to claim “it’s all about education” then. Those who claim that typically make their decision for just the opposite reason when their kids choose D3. Basically those are really the only schools were their kids can still play a sport. It’s the only level where they can do that so when you step back and look at their decision then it is pretty clear that the sport is the dictating factor in their decision, not the education. There are plenty of schools where a kid can find a tremendous education if you take away the need to justify years of excessive club soccer spending from the equation. It takes a bit of objectivity to realize that though.

That is ridiculous. Are you even paying any attention to the type of families that are involved in competitive girls soccer? Half of them have been angling for their kid to get to some academic risk star school since they were in diapers.

Look the college scandal had kids pretending to be athletes to get into tough academic schools, not kids pretending to be valedictorians so they could get into big sports schools. (With the exception of Olivia Jade who just wanted to party so who cares)

Still haven't addressed the echolalia with your doc yet, right, BTNT? Interesting....some kids are allowed to consider a multi-factor approach and some aren't, according to you. And your thesis entails a conclusion that no D3 school is worthy of attending with soccer or no soccer. Who exactly do you approve of for attending elite LACs?

Most agree that those sorts are completely over the top. We are talking about the sub set of them that angled and lost then feel the need to make lame excuses.

And how many more years are you going to let your so-called "lame excusers" bother you?

Nice try to deflect. I'm not BTNT, YOU are BTNT. You can't fool me.
