First WC is not on the board of ECNL. Second, while I agree soccer is a business, the only one at WC who is profiting off any soccer decisions is Kaz himself. If he preferred the GDA model, that is what would have been the way they would have gone. It is obvious, even to an EX US Soccer guy, that GDA is failing in the NE. US Soccer over saturated the area and it became a contest to take players away from ECNL instead of giving a pathway for the best of the best to follow. I spoke to Kaz when NYSC was admitted late and he was not happy they were admitted. He told me he even called the Academy to let them know he had a lot of concerns about adding too many clubs. Once Albertson was admitted, Kaz knew GDA was on its way out. Combine that with the fact that the boys MLS clubs are pulling out in 2020, and the writing was on the wall

Not saying WC on the board but PDA is. And yes if GDA was the better business decision that is the direction WC would have stayed. As well as every other club that dropped. Kaz isn't a Saint, he needs to run a business and for his clients ECNL is the best choice

Anyone who chooses based on a league is drinking way too much kool aid. you choose based on the coaches, team, club.
Who invited them late? Who is running the lame party? USSF.

They can only expand what USSF allows them to. They got one more team for next year (u16) so their current U15s can slide in, whoever stays or joins. The rising U15s are terrible, who knows who will stay, and then they also need to fill a new team of U14s. Good luck with that.

So Mr. Negative, tell us the best club and coaches in town are the best so we can all flock there? You're so concerned over what doesn't work, tell us which clubs have it right so we can entrust the words of a soccer guru? Enlighten us

Again, errrr....my point was about the club NYCFC GDA leaving the GDA, NOT about anything else, there is a moron train running today....

how is it a big loss if ANY Club leaves. The players still receive the same coaching? Who is losing? are players on other teams in the GDA now saying, ive got to leave my local GDA team now because NYCFC are not in it?

So many of these comments make no sense. There is this parental perception that being in what you think is the best league is more important than the coaching, facilities and team you train and play with. Its laughable.

Go look at the top players produced in this region over the last 3 or so years playing in College. I bet they come from a wide range of Clubs. Some won a lot, some not. Some on good teams, some bad. There is no formula.

you make decisions based on whats available and you weigh many factors. The league your team is in should not be that high

There are very few. But you cannot run a huge league for a half dozen players. You may want lots of practice cones to sign up but they don't want to.

Right. so when people say the USSF should have set up a league for the best of the best, what do they mean? The ECNL AND teh USSF should have collaborated and BOTH should have compromised to create a real pyramid.

instead egos led to what we have now. A REAL USSF leader would abolish the GDA in current form and build a better pathway involving all constituents.

ive suggested it before. ONE team per club. USSF can consult on training program/frequency etc. Any Club can have a GDA team if they meet certain standards. Failure to maintain them = expulsion.

Club can continue it bulk operation in whatever league(s) they want.

There is no way to make money doing what you describe. If there was, then some one would do it. The money in girls and most boys youth soccer comes from the parents which explains why we have the system we have.

most of you all won't admit it, but across any of the leagues, each team has about 2-3 good/great players, maybe another 3 decent enough players and after that the talent drops off BY A LOT

Yes ECNL were being diks but USSF also wasn't listening to them. So then USSF doubled down on their dik cards and created a league that's struggling just as many said it would
