Play down a year? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, what are you talking about? You do know that if there is one player on a team that is U17, they play U17. You do know this much about soccer don't you? Apparently not.

They can play any age they want when they are the only team in the league.

What makes you think you won't be driving in OPL? Either drive or pay the Portland Rec teams that remain…up to you i guess.

Maybe because all of the clubs that are hours from Portland are in the Timber's camp???

So you are saying all non-portland clubs are Timbers clubs?

Not all, but certainly most are from the Portland area. And as the Portland clubs are the big ones, it's probably something like 95% of the teams in OPL are from the Portland area.

Not sure this is a bragging point…looking at fall league 11-14 boys and girls Crossfire, Thusc, and FC Portland were 54% of the teams.

Why even pay league fees? At some age's nearly one third of the teams were from Crossfire.

Crossfire is pretty much an alliance like TA; that would be like me telling you that TA makes up 80 percent of OYSA, so why are you paying fees?

This is where the OPL people seem to bury their heads in the sand. They complain about playing multiple Timbers teams, but then they have a league that is comprised of 7 teams, 3 from one club, 3 from another, and 1 from a third.

And that's a problem? In many OYSA leagues, almost all of the teams are "Timbers". What does it matter what the names are? Opponents are opponents aren't they? One thing I do know for sure is that my travel costs for league this fall were next to nothing while friends of ours at a TA club had a couple of overnighters in southern Oregon combined with several long drives to Eugene and Bend. Not to mention all of the additional free time we had to pursue other activities besides soccer.

As for the league fees, OPL teams didn't pay any this fall. They were paid for with the money the TA clubs left behind when they bolted for their own league...

At least you know if you're playing Crossfire, THUSC, or FCP that you're going to be playing soccer and not rugby or tackle football. And you might see some nice passing too!

And it is so much fun to be crossfires A team playing their B team or their C team…Lets have a home and way against our own club…That is what is known as a scrimmage not a league game. So if you want to spend your season playing glorified scrimmages OPL is the place for you.

This is where the intelligence of OPL folks always comes into question. Yes there are multiple clubs that play under the name Timbers. These are still different clubs, different coaching styles etc… That is very different than playing the a-e teams of one club.

And I guess the ultimate statement is the league fees. You get what you pay for.

So that is the party line now?…They no longer even have the courage to admit they kicked the TA clubs out. Whatever…Have fun when the ill-gotten gains run dry. Then you will feel the pinch when you start having to pay for the garbage you will tolerate now because it is free.
