ECNL is not something FC Portland has always done. That is the point, it is supposed to be new, better and more professional. Isn't that why we are paying so much more?
Carrying over the same BS team mom garbage an footing the bill for another PARENT to travel is BS.

Nice gig
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostYou're paying exactly $500 more for twice as much training. That's it. The rest of the cost is related to travel and those policies haven't changed. All FCP teams travel the same way: the team travels together, eat together, stay 4 to a room without parents, and the team manager organizes it all and chaperones the kids while on the trip. If you want to do the job, ask for it. We'll see how long you want to keep doing it for free.
If you don't like the club policies, maybe you should go somewhere else.
So for about 4 hours work each day you get free air fare, room and a food allowance. PLUS get to watch your DD play sign me up! Did they draw straws for the position because I know that there would be more than one mom up for that!
Now a free room and a food allowance I can handle but free air fare to watch your kid play is a bit much IMHO!
The fact the FCP has "always" done that explains a few things about their finances and fees.

Additionally, you have work to do even when there are no matches to play, half of the matches are at home, there is work to do.
But if you are up for it go ahead, knock yourself out.
At least on our team, the parents either want the option to not travel or enjoy their travel over what they might save by being manager.
You would know this, but your dd is not on an ECNL team, you are just here in a vain attempt to stir the pot.

So they can hand the official the roster & playing cards, so they can make dinner reservations at Red Robin & call up & reserve airport transport. Like a previous poster said: maybe free room & board for the manager for their "work" (that many do for free!) but no way on the travel. Ridiculous!
