There is no such thing as an ECNL team, ECNL Club, ECNL player or ECNL coach for that matter.
The ECNL is just another youth soccer league.nothing more or less.

But you can correctly call someone an ODP player, coach and team .

Any Oregon based youth club player can be a part of the OYSA, OPL, AYS0, USYS, US Club Soccer, ECNL, FWRL, Or NWCDA...All you have to do is sign up and pay the member fee.

Paying for this membership is the same as paying for Bi-Mart or Costco card.

It's a choice, not a distinction of merit or ability to be part of a club team that plays in league of their own choice.

You are a member of a local club that gets to choose where they play.

Before you label a team, player or coach as "ECNL". Realize there is no such thing.

Unless you really wish there was....

But wrong. Just another TA lemming trying to justify to themselves that the TA is all that. Really? Thorns can't even beat 2nd tier teams in FWRL.

And you have to be invited to join ECNL. It's a league for "Elite Clubs". Your TA club isn't one of them.

One too many last night? Don't drink and type. If you weren't drinking then you need to.

Not any more it's not elite. It was elite years back but now it's pretty watered down to the point they finally let even Oregon teams join, who have been begging for years to get in.

At this point the OP is correct. None of the teams are full, so anyone that wishes may join them if you are able to pay the fees.

ODP (regardless of your opinion in quality of anything) is full each year. There are many more players that attempt to make the Oregon ODP teams then those that are chosen.

So just cuz youve got the cheddar, doesnt mean you DK can wear the badge.

Pretty easy to fill up ODP with mediocre (at best) Rec+ players from TA clubs. You need real quality for ECNL and finding those players in OYSA is like finding a needle in a haystack.

You all label and argue over labels, trying to define what you don't know.

Find the best experience for your kid and shut up and enjoy the experience, not be degrading others or misrepresenting one thing or another.

Your negativity spills into your kid and they stop enjoying it. Some quit. Almost every kid that quits does so because of a dip**** parent or coach.

Today's lesson: don't be a dip****. You are the only one that holds your option in any sort of esteem.

I read all the time on this forum about the 'ECNL' club, player, coach team.

I now better understand the ECNL is actually just a league. Like OYSA, FWRL, OPL etc..

Thanks to the OP who clarified this fact.

A league that makes OYSA and FWRL look worse than rec. And the Thorns can't even win that!

Wow you are a slow one aren't you. But the league is not like OYSA, FWRL, OPL etc.. It's far from it. ECNL is the top league in the country. No doubt about that.

As a club you have to be accepted with a pretty decent resume. That's why none of the TA clubs would qualify. It's kind of like playing in Surf Cup, only the best are accepted. That's why there is no way on earth that Thorns Academy will be going to Surf Cup this year or next year. Yet there are at least 4 and as many as 6 OPL/ECNL teams that will be going from Oregon this year.

Get over it! OK you choose to have your daughter do ECNL,congratulations. You also seem to have an unhealthy obsession with the Thorns. What does it matter to you. If as you say none of the Thorns players are worthy of playing ECNL, they have zero impact on you. If however the Thorns do have some quality players who have chosen not to do ECNL you might reconsider your approach.

As far as the inter league stuff it's kind of like cheering as somebody else gets hurt. Very tacky.

No, I fully expect the best players for the Thorns will come over to ECNL. As far as unhealthy obsession, not really, I do like Alex Morgan though. She seems tacky like me.
